The Hadeeth continues, “Oh Children of Aadam! Your wealth is in your clothing but it wears out. Your wealth is in your food but it digests and becomes waste. Your wealth is in your charity and this is what remains[1].”
This is definition of your capital sums. This is the reality of the wealth and riches that you own. The money in your bank accounts is no use to you. Your true wealth is what is mentioned in this Hadeeth; your clothing, your food and your charity. The reward for spending on these remain, otherwise wealth is of no use.
Wealth is not materialistic or physical. The people of Eemaan realise that wealth is only a means to achieve their goals. Its simile is like the similitude of the bathroom; the people of Eemaan only enter it to relieve themselves and leave. This is the reality of wealth, that it comes, is used for the purpose of obedience and then it leaves. They only seek that which will benefit them by it and to the degree of need they have for it.
The similitude given by those who indulge themselves in their riches is like those who are enter the bathroom and spend hours in their seeking to beautify themselves, however, there is no benefit in this for them. They have not benefitted by this in the slightest. Their wealth amassed in their accounts doesn’t benefit them at all. This is not their wealth.
