Imam az-Zuhri (may Allah have
Mercy on him) used to fast Aashoora’ even when he used to travel and once was
asked, “Why do you fast Aashoora’ whilst travelling but don’t fast whilst
travelling during Ramadan?” He said, “Ramadan fasts can be made up but if a
person misses Aashoora’, he will miss it.”

Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali (may
Allah have Mercy on him) said:
A group of the Salaf used to
fast Aashoora’ even during their travels. From them Ibn ‘Abbas, Abu Ishaq,
as-Sabee’ee, az-Zuhri and its been narrated from Ahmad that he used to fast
Aashoora’ whilst travelling.
