“Do they think that We enlarge them in wealth and children. We hasten unto them with good things (in this worldly life so that they will have no share of good things in the Hereafter)? Nay, but they perceive not.” [al-Mu’minoon 23: 55-56]
Allaah, the Most High, has mentioned in the Qur’aan nations that came before us, they had amassed riches, but where are they and their wealth? Everything has perished!
“Like those before you, they were mightier than you in power, and more abundant in wealth and children. They had enjoyed their portion awhile, so enjoy your portion awhile as those before you enjoyed their portion awhile; and you indulged in play and pastime (and in telling lies against Allah and His Messenger Muhammad
Take heed in the story of Sulaymaan [Peace be upon him] with Bilkees. He called her to al-Islaam but she initially responded to his call by sending him gifts and handouts in an attempt not to go war if she failed to accept his invitation to al-Islaam. What was his response?
He said: "Will you help me in wealth? What Allah has given me is better than that which He has given you! Nay, you rejoice in your gift!"” [an-Namal 27:36]
He realized, who is the One Who Gives wealth? Clearly, it is the Lord of all Honour and Glory. The very first trial that a person is tested with recognition. Does he recognize that Allaah is the One Who Gives wealth? If he does, he will then have Tawakkul on the One Who bought it. He supplicates to Allaah, the Most High, alone to provide for him and make vast his provisions.
