Fitnah al-Maal: Indulgence in Haraam Wealth Has Destroyed Good Transactions (Part 11)

“Allah will destroy Riba (usury) and will give increase for Sadaqat (deeds of charity, alms, etc.)” [al-Baqarah 2:276]

Why is interest destroyed? Why is charity increased? The answer is to spare a thought for the poor and needy. Likewise we can ask in answering in these questions, why have people overly-exerted themselves in taking loans and falling into debt? Going back just ten years, the percentage of debt in ratio to the population was far less.

Today, loans and debts are being multiplied daily. Why is this? The doors of forbidden transactions are made easily accessible to them. They enter its doors without even accounting themselves. For example, there are those who are constantly late to work, yet they receive full salaries without being penalized.

This is a door of Haraam which has been opened to him and he continues to walks through its gates. Others, they take the wealth of others unlawfully and it becomes something easy to him also.

Therefore, whenever Haraam becomes easily accessible to a people, they become used to it and all blessings are removed and lost. As a result, they end up gaining their provisions and spending it without there being any benefit behind it whatsoever.

The doors of unlawful transactions are made fair-seeming to them, they indulge in it and the end result is that they are left with nothing, nothing remaining from the provisions they have worked hard to get.

Every single one of us can relate to this and think of examples of it. What do you have before and what do you have left? How much did you calculate to spend yet you are left with a lot less, why?! How is it that others earn less but they have more? How many can we think of that are wealthy and have high paid salaries, but they have no blessings in it. At the end of each month they are filled with stress and grief and their accounts are empty.

Blessings have been lost. When blessings are lifted, the provisions you have, no matter how much you think you own, will be of no benefit to you.
