Chapter: Being kind to one for whose faith there is concern because it is weak; Prohibition of attributing Faith to someone without definitive evidence

Sa'd narrated it on the authority of his father (Abi Waqqas) that he observed:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) distributed shares (of booty among his Companions). I said: Messenger of Allah! Give it to so and so, for verily he is a believer. Upon this the Messenger of Allah remarked: Or a Muslim. I (the narrator) repeated it (the word" believer" ) thrice and he (the Holy Prophet) turned his back upon me (and substituted the word)" Muslim," and then observed: I bestow it (this share) to a man out of apprehension lest Allah should throw him prostrate into the fire (of Hell) whereas in fact the other man is dearer to me than he.
Explanation

-يكب means to return back to
-رهط is a group less than ten
-we are not allowed to say a person is a believer, rather we go by what is apparent
-the Prophet affirmed Eman for the man but it was weak, so the meaning is that he gave to man with weak Eman because if he didn't then he feared for him Kufr and the fire

Arriving at al-Madeenah [Part 28]

Commentary

-The first thing he did when he entered al-Madeenah was to establish a Masjid which would be his basis and then he made treaties with those who weren’t Muslim around him, such as the Jews.

-He also united the Muslims in al-Madeenah and made the Ansaar sponsor the Muhajiroon in a bond of brotherhood.

This is what Allah has made easy for us to present from the Sirah of the Prophet taken from the work of Ibn Katheer – Fusool fi Seerah ar-Rasool -  with the explanation of Shaykh ‘Abdur-Razzaaq al-Badr.

I ask Allaah to make its contents as a lesson for us, beneficial for the Muslims to live and practice and increase in our love and support for the noble Prophet and beloved of Allaah, Muhammad bin ‘Abdullah.

And Allaah Knows best.
