Al-Uthaymeen: People are Searching for Something

People go everywhere looking for themselves to be entertained, so that pain and fatigue will be removed from themselves.

However, nothing will truly remove it except Eman. True Eman is what creates contentment. The content person is the one who is the believer. They are protected in the Dunya and are safe from punishment on the Day of Judgement.

Al-Uthaymeen: Straighten Your Affairs when Tested

If you find yourself during difficulty being patient, then wait for relief from Allah. Seek reward from Allah (whilst waiting) because these are the symbols of Eman.

But if you find yourself doing the opposite, then blame yourself, straighten your affairs (with Him) and repent to Allah.

al-Uthaymeen: Keep Asking Your Lord (the Most High)

From the etiquettes of Dua is that a person shows persistance. He should repeat even if he hasn't received a response yet in the first instance or the second, he should keep repeating.

Surely, Allah (the Most High) will prevent an answering of Dua at the first time in asking in order for them to increase in asking their Lord. To show poverty towards Him.

Also, it could be a test for the servant. Will the servant continue supplicating to Allah or will they despair and stop asking, so that they are prevented?

al-Khudayr: Wiping over Shoes Must Cover the Ankles

Question: What is the ruling on wiping over the shoes during the cold?

Answer: Shoes that do not cover ankles are not permitted to wipe over. It is not permitted to wipe over anything which doesn't cover the entire foot - if it doesn't cover the entire area of obligatory washing. Footwear that the ankles cannot be seen, otherwise such footwear would not take the same name as a "Khuff", and wiping has been legislated over (what is similar to) the Khuff and not over shoes (that does not cover the ankle).

Al-Uthaymeen: If you Don't Give Thanks...

The favour of security - if you don't give thanks for it, it will be replaced with fear.

The favour of provisions - if you don't give thanks for it, it will be replaced with hunger.

Likewise, the favour of religion - if you don't give thanks for it, it will be replaced with Kufr.

Al-Uthaymeen: None is Assisted to Them Except a Few

Until you are certain, that the matter is about assistance from Allah.

Look at the most simpliest Adhkar (remembrances) - they are from the easiest forms of obedience (and good deeds), however, none is assisted to them except for a few.

Abu Bakr al-Warraaq (d. 240): Be Patient with Your Family!

Abu Bakr al-Warraaq (d.240) said:

كانت لي بنت مبتلاة، وكان لها نحو عشر سنين، قال: وكنت أتمنى موتها فماتت،

I had a daughter who was tested with a disability and she was like this for around ten years. I once said, “I wished she just died” and then she died.

He said, "I then saw her in my dream, as if she was standing and the Day of Judgement was taking place.

She stood up as if she was one of those children who would take the hand of her parent and lead them to Jannah.

So I said to my daughter, 'Take my hand and lead me to Jannah.'

She said to me, 'No, you wished for my death.'”

Al-Uthaymeen: this is the case for many people today...

Allah (the Exalted and Glorified) said:

“Do not obey those who’s heart is negligent with Our Remembrance and follows his own desires and his affairs are lost” [18:28]

This is the case for many people today, with great regret. Allah has closed their hearts in remembering Him, so they followed their desires and their affairs are lost. They spend hours, rather days, and they haven’t achieved anything.

Civil Unrest and Social Media

[About information which displeases the believer] You reject it in the heart, on the tongue and explain the truth to the people. It is not permitted to spread it and send it to others. Some ignoramus send images and want others to see it.

This is wrong!

Do you want Baatil (falsehood) to spread?

Some people spread these things on social media but they are helping to spread falsehood!

Rather, if something like this comes to you – delete it from your phone and don’t send it to others.

Subhanallah!

Questioner: many of the Muslim youth use their time to follow the news from the Kuffar to find out what oppression is taking place against the Muslims, and they spend a long time doing this…

Answer: Once you know it’s happening, what’s going to happen?

“Such and such people have done this” and “others have done that.”

What are they going to do now? Do they have a solution? Do they have anything to offer to stop it or to reduce the oppression?

They only follow these things to find out what is happening, nothing else.

Everything has to be balanced between transgression (Ifraat) and negligence (Tafreet)

Wasting your time in following these things and watching at clips with the latest information, wastes so much time and this is transgression.

And transgression is blameworthy in all things.

Transgression is to go beyond the bounds with that which is appropriate.

The Salaf and Fasting Aashoora'

Imam az-Zuhri (may Allah have Mercy on him) used to fast Aashoora’ even when he used to travel and once was asked, “Why do you fast Aashoora’ whilst travelling but don’t fast whilst travelling during Ramadan?” He said, “Ramadan fasts can be made up but if a person misses Aashoora’, he will miss it.”

Siyar ‘Alaam an-Nubalaa’, 5/342

Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali (may Allah have Mercy on him) said:

A group of the Salaf used to fast Aashoora’ even during their travels. From them Ibn ‘Abbas, Abu Ishaq, as-Sabee’ee, az-Zuhri and its been narrated from Ahmad that he used to fast Aashoora’ whilst travelling.

Ibn Taymiyyah: Feeding on the Days of at-Tashreeq is a Symbol of Islam

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (Allah have mercy on him) was asked:

Question: what is the ruling on a person completing the Quran and feeding people on the night of the Prophet’s (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him) birthday[1], is this recommended or not?

Answer:

All praises are for Allah[2].

Gathering people for the two Eid’s and the Days of at-Tashreeq (11th to 13th of Dhu al-Hijjah) is a Sunnah and a symbol of Islam. It is a Sunnah that was established by the Messenger of Allah (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him) and the Muslims, for the purpose of looking after the poor and needy by feeding them… End quote.

Majmoo al-Fataawa 25/298

[1] TN: note, innovated occasions attributed to the Shari’ah have no precedence and as there isn’t one, rulings connected to them become confusing – which then create even more innovations and confusion!

[2] TN: Islamic responses must begin with the name of Allah, either the Basmallah or praising Him, however what is common in the Sunnah, is that the Prophet (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him) used to begin verbal responses with praising Allah.

Ash-Shuway'ir: Dua for Others Creates Love for One Another

A gift is to give something without receiving something in return. [The ruling is that] it is Mustahab (recommended) because the Prophet (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “Give gifts, you will love one another.[1]

Gift giving is of two types:

1-Gifts given for the body

2-Gifts given for the soul

Gifts given for the body, these are tangible gifts which are shared with others. As for gifts given for the soul then this is Dua. And anyone who gifts a gift to another for the body they will be loved/appreciated, and anyone who gifts a gift to another for the soul they will be loved/appreciated.

For this reason, if you want someone to love/appreciate you, then increase in making Dua for that person in their absence. There is no one that makes Dua for his brother/sister in their absence except that they will love/appreciate them.

It is reported with at-Tirmidhi that a group of the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them all) came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and they said, “We have relatives who do not keep ties” due to constant argumentation, bickering etc. So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to him, “Where are you in making Istighfar for him?”[2] So if a person makes Istighar for his brother, even if there is some kind of enmity or disagreement between them, then you will find that the second party will have his heart opened towards you; he will love you, his heart will be softened towards you and you will find that Allah will place a great deal of good in his heart towards you.

What also supports this meaning is also the statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), “The best of your leaders are those whom you love and they love you, and you pray for them and they pray for you.”[3] Here, this ad-Dalalah al-Iqtiraan (a principle which annotates that the evidence can be found within the context) ‘pray’ means Dua. Therefore, if you supplicate for them, they will love you and if they supplicate for you, you will love them.

This shows that Dua for one another necessitates a bringing about of love for one another. Therefore, if two people have tensions, enminty or rivalry on account of the Dunya – then increase in making Dua for them. Increase in making Dua for your brother who you have tensions with. You will find whats in your heart has gone and what was in his heart has also gone.

Ibn al-Qayyim on Self-Resolve and Determination

Repel the thought. If you don’t, it will become a concept. Remove that concept. If you don’t, it will become a desire - that you will constantly be fighting against. If you don’t [fight it], it will become a determination and an aspiration. If you don’t remove these, it will become action. If you don’t challenge them with their opposites they will become a habit, and it will be too difficult for you to move on from them.

Shaykh Saaleh aal ash-Shaykh and the New World Order

There is a political thought adopts a tyrannical approach. It is authoritarian which has been created by the political elite. Their motto is to appear to promote peace and unity.

Some people may doubt the existence of a political elite, rather, they exist and have increased in their grip over the last two centuries.

They appear to spread peace and unity under the name of civilization. They want to remove hate within society.

These things are all praiseworthy.

Peace – Allah is as-Salam and peace comes from Him.

Unity – something good and fair for those who deserve it.

Removing hate – something good for those who deserve not to be hated.

But the reality is shocking…

They want from the population, from the Muslim world, that they interact with them peaceful – all the while - they are not peaceful back.

They want for us to love them, all the while - they do not love us back.

They want for us to remove hatred towards them, all the while – they hate us back.

So with what criterion are they measuring with?

The authoritarian wants to control the world and wants for his ideologies to spread under the name of spreading peace.

However, we are the ones who have forcefully handed ourselves over to the authoritarian. We have submitted our religion, our creed (Aqidah), our countries, our populations, our legal code (Shari’ah) – we have given all of this to them because of the threat they pose.

They have taken full control over all of these things and even our homes have not been spared and then they say, “Live with us in peace”.

Unity – but they don’t want to unite with us. Read the global reports that come out from every nation, you will then see the size of the plots they have against the Muslims and the followers of Muhammad (Peace and Blessings of Allaah be upon him).

Removing hate – don’t discriminate, but they label as-Salafiyyah or what they call “Wahhabism” as being extreme forms of Islam. They spread hate, isn’t the world filled with hate [as account of their actions]?

If a person doesn’t allow you to live your life, will such a person ever intend good for you? No.

Love has to be mutual between those who share the same creed. Peace can exist outside of this creed under mutual cooperation [and respect] and the various forms it can be created.

But being forced to live in a world where there is [only their perspective of] peace, unity and removal of hatred [without conditions] – is a perversion of the natural disposition (Fitrah). This is a form of tyrannical authoritarianism, even if it is psychological [and not physical].

Based on this, what you see today and with living life in difficulty - then it becomes obligatory for us to return to the foundations of the religion. The foundations of the religion instils in you certainty because Allah is the One who has legislated how we should think. The way we think is because Allah is the One who Legislated it for us. Who is the One who Knows who we should be careful of and who we should cooperate with? Allah, the Glorified and Exalted.

In the Quran our Lord, the Glorified and Exalted, Said to us:

وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِأَعْدَائِكُمْ وَكَفَى بِاللَّهِ وَلِيًّا وَكَفَى بِاللَّهِ نَصِيرًا

Allah knows best who your enemies are! And Allah is sufficient as a Guardian, and He is sufficient as a Helper.

(an-Nisaa 4:45)

Therefore, He explained it to us, the Glorified and Exalted.

“Similarly, We made enemies for every prophet from among the wicked, but sufficient is your Lord as a Guide and Helper”

(al-Furqaan 25:31)

In enmity, Allah – the Glorified and Exalted - is the One who will Help us. Jibreel will help us:

مَن كَانَ عَدُوًّا لِّلَّهِ وَمَلائِكَتِهِ وَرُسُلِهِ وَجِبْرِيلَ وَمِيكَالَ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ عَدُوٌّ لِّلْكَافِرِينَ

“Whoever is an enemy of Allah, His angels, His messengers, Gabriel, and Michael, then ˹let them know that˺ Allah is certainly the enemy of the disbelievers.”

(al-Baqarah 2:98)

Therefore, enmity and unity all of this is eradicated by faith (Eman) and with whatever Allah, the Glorified and Exalted, has Said.

Do not turn to those who eradicate it without evidence, lest you deviate. That way, you will use Eman to eradicate it but it will be enslaved to those who carry no religious proof.

And do not be like those who become completely distorted – in line with the global authoritarian plan (the New World Order).

Because today’s authoritarian plan is changing everything, even creed and ideology.

Al-Baraak: these devices are a clear calamity

Ibn al-Qayyim said:

For this reason, it is obligatory upon the parent to prevent his child, at the age of comprehension, from gatherings that include sin, falsehood, music, obscenities, Bid’ah and evil logic. If you allow this to happen, it will remain with him/her.

Explanation:

Allah’s Assistance is sought, to Him we belong and to Him we will return.

The doors are opened - I seek Allah’s refuge.

It has been opened to people, social media. It started with radio, broadcasting – the very least we can say, broadcasting that which had no benefit. So how about things that are broadcasted which harm and corrupt the hearts?

And then realise, these things are developing at a more alarming pace. The Ummah is being tested with channels of “civilisation”. These vices are being used to develop and engrain such things (mentioned by Ibn al-Qayyim above) and they do this by broadcasting it to the people.

Radio, then TV, then video and then these phones – that which has good and also carries bad.

La ilaha ila Allah!

These devices are a clear calamity.

[The shaykh repeats:] “Sin, falsehood, music, obscenities, Bid’ah and evil logic.”

All that you find as a corruption in the Muslim Ummah is because we following and imitating the Kuffar.

Aal ash-Shaykh: Only as-Salafiyyah Challenges What is Happening Today

Today, when people talk about Islam, that which contradicts the Western outlook on Islam or the widespread ideology of secularism, they will label this as “Salafiyyah”.

The definition of "Salafiyyah" with them includes any school which believes that the source of legislation is the Book of Allah (the Most High) - that which is obligatory for us to return to so that we can define what relationship man has with everything around him.

The source of legislation is the Book, the Sunnah, Ijmaa (scholarly consensus) and principles and maxims [within them]. Whoever makes this the criterion for legislation they will label this as “Salafiyyah”.

Methodologies in Islam which are not Salafiyyah are those that theorise otherwise, such as saying that the Quran can be critically analysed using thought and theory – the Quran is still sacred, but it can be critiqued. Likewise the Sunnah is sacred by it can be critiqued, beleiving that they can take aspects and leave aspects [based on their analysis].

There is a constant mentioning of critical thinking in the establishment of civilisation. Civilization is part of a philosophical thinking which has a role in secularism today. What is civilisation? What do we do once we have establishment civilisation? etc. and all the details surrounding civilisation lends itself to the methodology that everything can be critically analysed.

Eventually, there is no proof in the sources of legislation anymore. Therefore, the ideologies in the western and the philosophies found within it – whether that comes from universities or political think tanks – if they use the term “Salafiyyah”, they don’t mean by it what we understand by Salafiyyah.

For us, as-Salafiyyah is to go back to the sources of legislation, that which was used by the four schools of thought – including; the Quran, the Sunnah, Ijma, Qiyas, Statements of the Companions, principles and maxims etc.

Without depending on theory for legislation makes you a "Salafiyyah", according to their labelling. Therefore, the only group that challenges the call for reform in civilisation are the Salafis. As for other sects that don’t show the same methodology of preserving the sources of legislation and in honouring them, then they give rise to them and they will label them accordingly.

How did Imaam adh-Dhahabi described himself?

Adh-Dhahabi, the author. [His name is] Muhammad bin Ahmad bin Uthman, the son of Shaykh Abdullah at-Turkmani. Then he [was attributed to] Dimishq (i.e. Damascus), a [follower of the Madhab] Shafi, a reader, a Muhadith, the person who wrote this biography.

He was born in 637H. He compiled many works. People claim that his works are beneficial. A group of people have praised him but he knows himself better. He knows his own deficiencies in knowledge and action – and Allah’s Help is sought and there is no Might nor Power except with Him.

If I can protect for myself my Eman, then how sweet is my success?

Comment:

The most important thing to himself was his Eman and not the books he authored. He researched for years and ended up writing more than 150 books but ultimatey he said – “If I can protect for myself my Eman, then how sweet is my success?”

This is the reality of the religion and Eman and the produce of goodness and a sincere intent. A person constantly checks his Eman and all of this is a means for how a person can strengthen his Eman.

Ruling on Raising your Voice in [Greeting with] Salam when Entering the Masjid

In origin, when a Muslim meets another Muslim, they should greet them with Salaam. This applies to the Masjid or anywhere else they meet.

However, the Masjid has a specific ruling. It is not permitted for a Muslim to raise his/her voice in the Masjid, irrespective of whether they are reciting the Quran or greeting with Salam. Some people - Allah Guide them - when they enter the Masjid they enter with clamour. They might enter the Masjid whilst remembering in a loud voice or enter whilst giving Salam in a loud voice whilst people are busy in worshipping Allah; reciting the Quran, making Dhikr or whilst others are praying.

There is no doubt that entering the Masjid in this manner and greeting people with a loud voice or perhaps remembering Allah in a loud voice and creating clamour as they enter the masjid - is a mistake.

The Prophet (Peace and Blessings of Allaah be upon him) forbade the Companions from raising their voices over one another when they were reciting the Quran.

Once he entered into the Masjid and he found them reciting the Quran and they were competing with one another in making their voices louder against one another. So he said, "Each one of you are conversing with their Lord, so do not compete with one another in raising your voices whilst reciting the Quran." Narrated by Abu Dawood, 1332; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood, 1183.

This is a command from the Prophet, not to raise thier voices when reciting the Quran so how about a person who enters into the Masjid whilst greeting people?

So the Muslim when he enters into the Masjid, he should make his way to the row and there is no harm in him greeting another person that he meets that is close to him, greeting them in a normal voice.  As for entering into the Masjid and greeting everyone in a loud voice, then this is not allowed and it is not befitting.
