an-Nooniyyah: Tape 8

Madhabs (opinions) on The Speech of Allah (the Most High)

1-some said it is created, separate from Allah (the Most High)

2-some said it is uncreated, but part of Allah but we have the meaning from Him (the Most High)

3-His words are part of the Dhat (essence) of Allah (the Most High) but He said them in eternity (Azal). This means, He (the Most High) didn't say them when it was revealed - there is no Hadath for Him. Each letter is not seperate from the other.

4-uncreated from the Dhat of Allah (the Most High) - belief of Ahl as-Sunnah

The belief of Ahl as-Sunnah and response to the above:

-His speech is from His Attributes, from His Essence, uncreated. He speaks whenever He wants in a manner that befits His Majesty.

-Making speech created is liked Wajdah al-Wujood, no difference between creator and creator and all speech is created and one with creation.

-If his speech is created then who sent the message?

-If His speech is created then all words, of animals and humans, is the Kalam of Allah

Belief of the early "creatists"

-The Mu’tazilah say his Names and Attributes are separate from Him, He created them and placed it into seperate entities.

Response:

-This is worse than those who said Allah is three

-there is a difference between Amr and Khalq. This is similar to the difference between Khaliq and Makhlooq

-Difference between the one who creates and commands and those created and commanded

-The Amr comes after Khalq

E-book: How to Build a Home Through Islamic Transactions by Shaykh Sa'd bin Naasir ash-Shathri (Allah Preserve him)

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

All Praises are for Allah and may Allah send His Peace and Blessings upon Muhammad, his family and all those who follow him in goodness until the Last Day. To begin:

This book was authored by the Shaykh long before the advent of Islamic mortgages that currently exist in the West. Therefore, this book is not a description on how to buy an Islamically compliant asset whilst living in the West, rather it is a book which extracts from the books of Fiqh on the many ways that the scholars have stated are permissible for us to acquire an asset.

Therefore, this book is not an attempt to clarify, or even rectify the current and ever changing Islamic finance modules that exist, rather it is to illustrate the various types of transactions which are Islamically valid.

The Shaykh gives ten types of Islamically valid purchases; their rulings, their forms and as an added benefit, which could hopefully add advice to the would-be investor/purchaser, the Shaykh lists a number of advantage and disadvantages to each type of trade.

Please note, all of these can be applied to the purchase of any item, be it a house, a car or otherwise.

We ask Allah to make this beneficial and that Allah, the Most High, Rewards the Shaykh for his efforts, and that He Alleviates the pressures off the Muslim Ummah, and that He Blesses them with whatever He Grants them.

al-Usaymee: Beware of Removing Extremism with Extremism

Shaykh Saaleh bin Abdillah al-Usaymee (Allah Preserve him)

Member of the Committee of Senior Scholars

Beware of repelling extremism affiliated with religion with extremism that eradicates religion. A corrupt medicine only increases the disease.

The who doesn’t know what is falsehood will not recognize the truth. And if a weapon is in the hands of someone who doesn’t know, he will [undoubtedly] attack his ally, rather it could even kill the one holding it.

Advice from Imam Wahb bin Munabih to a Man Who was Effected by The Thoughts of the Khwaarij

Advice from Imam Wahb bin Munabih

to a man who was effected by

The Thoughts of the Khwaarij

Edited by

Shaykh Abdus-Salam bin Burjis aal Abdul-Karim

(Allah have Mercy on him)

The Sanad for this book can be found in the following:

Tareekh Dimishq of Ibn ‘Asakir, 17/483

Tatheeb al-Kamal of al-Mizzi, 31/150

Siyar ‘Alam an-Nubalaa’ of adh-Dhahabi, 4/553

The Sanad as follows:

Ali bin al-Madeeni – Hisham bin Yusuf as-Sana’aani – Dawud bin Qays – Abu Shamir who had the manuscript with him written by Wahb bin Munabih (d. 110) – Allah have Mercy on him.[1]

TN: what follows is a summary of the his advice to Abu Shamir and not a translation of the entire book

Notes from

THE BOOK

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Abu Shamir asked him two questions because they became issues doubt that the people of Hawraa were spreading:

1-We can not donate (or financially) support the rulers, such act of Zakat or charity will not be accepted

2-We are not allowed to make Isigthfar or Dua for them

He replied (after rebuking Abu Shamir for maturing in knowledge but then listening to the people of misguidance):

-Whoever is a Muslim, we must accept such and base our relationship with them with what is apparent

-It is not permitted for a person to bare witness to the Kufr of a person when they themselves have bore witness to the oneness of Allah

-In these deviated ideas, they follow the woman who entered the fire who prevented Sadaqah to a cat (al-Bukhari and Muslim), so how about preventing and blocking Sadaqah and aid to those who bare witness to the Oneness of Allah and worship Him alone?!

-The people punished on the Day of Judgement are those who didn’t spend and prevented such, based on the Statement:

وَيُطْعِمُونَ الطَّعَامَ عَلَى حُبِّهِ مِسْكِينًا وَيَتِيمًا وَأَسِيرًا

إِنَّمَا نُطْعِمُكُمْ لِوَجْهِ اللَّهِ لا نُرِيدُ مِنكُمْ جَزَاء وَلا شُكُورًا

إِنَّا نَخَافُ مِن رَّبِّنَا يَوْمًا عَبُوسًا قَمْطَرِيرًا

“And they give food, inspite of their love for it (or for the love of Him), to Miskin (poor), the orphan, and the captive,

(Saying): “We feed you seeking Allah’s Countenance only. We wish for no reward, nor thanks from you.

Verily, We fear from our Lord a Day, hard and distressful, that will make the faces look horrible (from extreme dislikeness to it).”

Al-Insaan 8-10

His advice:

O Dhu Khawlaan (Abu Shamir), I have met people from the core of Islam. I swear by Allah, the Kwharij never existed except that Allah dispersed them because of the evil they brought. There is no one who has the views of the Khwarij except that Allah struck him at his neck (silenced and punished him). The Ummah has never found peace and unity under a person with such extreme views. If Allah allows the Khwarij to establish themselves, they will corrupt the earth. They will block paths to goodness. They will prevent the Hajj from being established. They will return Islam back to Jahiliyyah…They will fight one another to be the ruler, each candidate having people that supports him until they declare one another as disbelievers (to support their politics). The believer will then become unstable and in a state of fear about his life, his religion, his family and his possession. He will not know where to turn or who to be with.

However, Allah decrees based on His Decree, His Knowledge and His Mercy. He looks at this Ummah with the looking of goodness towards them. He Creates love to in their hearts towards one another and (out of His Kindness) no such love is placed in the hearts of the believers towards a Khwariji. End quote.

Final advice:

-“Stick to the People of Tawhid and the People of the Qiblah”, follow the Shariah and the Sunnah.

-Follow the Book and the Prophets (Peace be Upon them all) mentioned in the book. Look what Esaa bin Maryam (Peace be Upon him) said and follow his precedence:

إِن تُعَذِّبْهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ عِبَادُكَ وَإِن تَغْفِرْ لَهُمْ فَإِنَّكَ أَنتَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ

“If You punish them, they are Your slaves, and if You forgive them, verily You, only You are the All-Mighty, the All-Wise .”

Al-Maidah 5: 118

If you were to turn away from this, then which Book will guide you and which Prophet would you follow?

Abu Shamir said in closing, “I bear witness that I have left my views of the Harooriyyah (the Khwarij) and I have accepted everything you have said.”

And Allah Knows best.

May Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon our Messenger.

A Summary of the Perfection of Islam with Examples of its Advantageous Merits by as-Sa'di

A Summary of the Perfection of Islam

with

Examples of its Advantageous Merits

Shaykh Abdur-Rahman bin Naasir as-Sa’di
(Allah have Mercy on him)

-Islam means “To submit”

-It establishes certainty in the presence of a deity, that deserves to be worshipped alone and that He is described with perfection through His Names and Attributes

-After this, belief that all favours – religious or worldly – are from Allah is instilled, and He alone is thanked for them

-With this belief, the heart then is filled with awe for this deity and the servant seeks to worship and thank him by following the Message sent through His Messenger (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him)

-This creates perfection for the servant in his statements and actions and beliefs, the more he follow him (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him)

This is the general description of what Islam actually is.

The Prophets (Peace be upon them all)

-It is the religion of all of them, all sent with the very same message

-Each one of them brought truth to mankind but none was preserved

-Until Allah sent the final Prophet (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him) with a book that will never be corrupted

The Religion

-Allah favoured his followers with a religion, the most perfect of that has ever been given

-They believe in the last one, which means, unlike other nations - they believe in all of them

-The believers accepted His Messenger because of the proof that he came with, the betterment they found in his call and how it comes to spread justice and beauty amongst Allah’s creation

-Therefore, there is nothing that has ever been revealed in good except that this final message has it, and anything that has ever been bad has also been included. A refined message.

Aqidah

-The greatest message of the religion that he came with (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him) was to have sincerity to Allah, thus making all of his actions – internally and externally – in the pursuit of seeking His Pleasure

-Such a belief has its benefits, from them:

a-knowing the purpose of his existence

b-knowing the rights of his Creator

c-knowing the rights of the creation

d-knowing that whatever happens in life is part of this purpose, thus all good or bad is Decreed by Him

e-stopping Shirk and all vices towards it

Obligations

-His religion also came with commandments that the followers must stick to

-These have been ordained in order for them to attain betterment in his religion and benefitting in his Dunya and Akhirah

-The religion is split into obligatory and recommended actions

-But they also have prohibitions that they must avoid, but if one errs or have shortcomings – repentance is mandated to seek to have that sin overlooked

-Thus, following the legislations of this religion is proof that this religion is the religion of truth, not only because of its comprehensiveness but also because of the betterment it brings

-It carries no shortcoming nor any contradictions within it. All harm is repelled and whoever truly follows it will have his mind, body, manners and faith preserved

Information

-As part of his message (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him), he also came with information that none other could have told, except through revelation

-The information he gave us is twofold: a) that which we can perceive, these are typically stories of the nations that came before

-And information of the b) supernatural, something our senses would never had perceived otherwise

-Man attests to his own limitations and ignorance, therefore Allah (the Most High) sending us a Messenger with a message which not help us in our faith, but teaches us about who we are ourselves, our natural urges with a message that appeals to our intellect and reason – makes prefect sense and is from the pinnacle from the proof of his truthfulness

-However, his enemies rejected and claimed that they knew better. They even tried to prove him wrong. Still, all of their attempts have been in vain. They have been exposed for either the ignorance which supports their call or that their rejected was purely based on their lusts and desires

-They failed to take heed, so their misguidance was ever more emphasised when corruption filled the lands, as a consequence of their rejection

Private Matters

-The perfection of his call (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him) is also exemplified in the character that his followers are called to have in their domestic relationships

-He demanded that justice be instilled and upheld

-The religion even classed some injustices as being criminal, and not only connected sin to those offences but also made them subject to illegality and criminal proceedings

Provisions

-His call (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him) is perfect in the way it encourages our lifestyle choices

-Food, clothing, marriage are all examples of those things left open for us to enjoy and explore. But it comes with a caution – anything which is Kabeeth will be prohibited

Conclusion

-Allah (the Most High) has sent Muhammad (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him) with guidance and the correct religion

-Anything which is good and beneficial is found within it, either in practice itself or for the effects it brings

-The relationship that Muslims have with this call with them determine the success that they are granted with it. If they upright and steadfast, their affairs too will be upright and steadfast

-This is proof in itself for the truthfulness of the call, that true people are needed in order for to prosper [and that it is not just given to anyone, unconditionally]

-If you want to know more, then go back to something which is a miracle and a proof for the truthfulness of this message in and of itself – the Quran

-Its messages are clear, its call is consistent, its knowledge of the unseen cannot be created – it is free from contradictions. Reading it gives the reader knowledge into a religion and a way of life which he would not have known from before.

-This is the religion of Muhammad (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him) which is the religion of truth; in belief, practice and the liberation is brings with it

Benefits for the One Who Wants to Benefit in Explaining The Kufr of the One Who Abandons Tawhid

Benefits for the One Who Wants to Benefit

in Explaining

The Kufr of the One Who Abandons Tawhid

by

Shaykh Muhammad bin Abdul-Wahab

(Allah have Mercy on him)

Commentary by Shaykh Abdul-Muhsin al-Qasim

Imam al-Masjid an-Nabawi

(Allah Preserve him)

Background

He wrote this as response to people wanted to kill him.

A group of people left the religion as apostates and wanted to assassinate him.

The people of that area (Huraymila) wrote to him for advice.

So he wrote this treatise as a letter to them:

1-We are not permitted to imitate the people of Kufr.

2-Islam came to protect a person’s Tawhid so that we dont imitate them in worship e.g. having a Sutrah, facing the fire when praying is not allowed etc.

AMQ: IMAW was strong in his ability to derive such as Masail al-Jahiliyyah and Kitab at-Tawhid

3-Most people don’t have understanding and Tawhid today because they don’t want to learn the religion.

4-A way a person becomes from the worst of creation is that he doesn’t want goodness, this was the way of the people of Jahiliyyah.

AMQ: The Prophet (Peace be upon him) didn’t destroy the idols right away despite them being so harmful. This shows Tawhid requires Subr and having insight [adopting a strategy etc.].

5-Numbers were few in Makkah, this is proof that goodness is not measured by numbers and that goodness is rare.

6-It is wrong to say, “I pray [and identify as a Muslim], that means I am free from Shirk.”

AMQ: an action or statement can be Kufr but a person is not declared to be such until the proof is established upon him: either the text is made clear to him or he contradicts something which is well-known in the religion.

7-No one can label another as being a disbeliever until proof is established upon that person.

8-The people of deviation say - the Ayat in the Quran which talk about Kufr and Shirk don’t apply to Muslims but to the people who follow other religions.

AMQ: this would take away the very point of those Ayat.

9-The dangers of the Khwarij despite them being described as the people of worship and recitation of the Quran; proof that the correct understanding is needed for his worship to benefit him.

AMQ: the importance of the Book and the Sunnah and taking the understanding from the correct sources.

10-Shirk is can be hidden and at times very hard to detect.

AMQ: when a person has Tawhid, he is obeying Allah (the Most High) and he is obeying the Prophet (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him). When he falls into Shirk, he is disobeying Allah (the Most High) and he is disobeying the Prophet (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him).

AMQ: most of Shirk today is based on Dua to other than Allah. Most of the Shirk that occurs is either in – 1) supplicating to an idol or 2) the deceased.

12-Muslims must be firm on Tawhid and not compromise his identity

AMQ: there will always be attempts for a person to leave Tawhid, so the Muslim must be conscious of this. Even if there are people who are kind to you and treat you well, attempts will always be made for you to leave your Tawhid.

13-The Muslim disagrees with the Kuffar based on their Aqidah and beliefs, this doesn’t deny them their rights and it doesn’t permit oppression of them.

AMQ: There is a difference between the Muslim not agreeing with their beliefs and the way he treats them.

14-All Shirk comes about by the leaders of their nation by introducing it [and then people following it].

15-The person of Tawhid has more insight then the person of Shirk.

16-Kufr can be with something that a person denies, even if he does the action himself.

AMQ: if a person falls into Kufr or Shirk, the ruling is clear. However, can a person fall into Kufr which is not initially an issue of Eman and Kufr? Proof that the people who denied giving in Zakat and sought to delgalise it is proof for this point.

17-Ibn Aqeel mentions this point (No. 16)

AMQ: A well-known Hanbali authority, proof that it wasn’t something invented by IMAW

18-The Hanafis are the strictest in the above (No. 16) – proof that it is not only a Hanbali position

Such as if a person calls a (whilst making Tasgheer):

Masjid – Musayjid

Mushaf – Musyahif

Or they prayed without the Wudhoo

AMQ: meaning, if a person changes the pronunciation of a thing which is honoured and sanctified in the Shari’ah, this is Kufr with the Hanafis.

19-Examples of Ijma of Kufr:

Oath by the grave or the person in the grave

Istighatha by asking the person in the grave

Making a sacrifice by the grave

AMQ: Proof that the other Madhabs agreed to point. 16

20-The Muslim masses are trailed by Shirk

AMQ: People who perform Hajj to the grave al-Badawi is more than those who make Hajj to Makkah. Annually, 6 million people make pilgrimage to the grave and during Hajj is 3 million.

21-The Maliki scholars are too great in number in how they made Takfir on Ibn Sina

22-The Shafi scholars gave examples:

Whoever sacrifices for the Prophet is a Kaafir

Whoever doubts the Kufr of Ibn Arabi is a Kafir

23-Some of them say that supplicating to other than Allah – to a pious person – is not Shirk, they claim it cannot be the same as idol worship. Shirk is only to worship idols and people who are Muslim cannot be declared as disbelievers.

Response:

a-There is Ijma (consensus from the scholars) that this a major act of Shirk.

b-There are many ways a person could commit Shirkn and Kufr, such as changing the religion or leaving the religion.

c-There are narrations which state there will be people from this Ummah that will fall into Shirk after being Muslim

Chapter: Disavowal of the People of Shirk

AMQ: this is so that a person rejects the people and the people of that belief. Without this, a person could be upon Kufr or approve of Kufr. However, Da’wah remains a manner of connection with them.

24-It is part of Shirk to make at-Tawalee

AMQ: there is a different between at-Tawalee (supporting them in their religion and/or removing Islam) and al-Muwalaat which is sinful (loving them for the sake of the Dunya alone)

25-This includes the people of innovation – not to take them as friends or sources of knowledge.

26-Bidah leads to Kufr, such as worshipping next to the Prophet’s grave (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him) leads to a person supplicating to him directly.

27-Narrations which obligate the following of the Salaf.

And Allah Knows best
