Fitnah al-Maal: Haraam Wealth is Only a Cause for Reduction (Part 10)

“Truly, your Lord enlarges the provision for whom He wills and straitens (for whom He wills)” [al-Israa 17:30]

If you realise this valuable lesson, then we need to ask the question; how can we gain provision and use it to gain the Pleasure of Allaah, the Most High.

Do we gain provision by deceiving or lying or usurping the wealth of others by being cunning in transactions? No, by Allaah, even if these examples bring about wealth and increase your bank balance somewhat, however, the harm and blame is far greater.

“And that which you give in gift (to others), in order that it may increase (your wealth by expecting to get a better one in return) from other people's property, has no increase with Allah, but that which you give in Zakat seeking Allah's Countenance then those, they shall have manifold increase.” [ar-Room 30:39]

There is an overwhelming number of texts that prohibit gaining your provision in an unlawful manner. These texts all describe that unlawful means of provision in fact destroy the wealth of the person and doesn’t increase it. It removes any trace of blessings from it.

Allah will destroy Riba (usury) and will give increase for Sadaqat (deeds of charity, alms, etc.)” [al-Baqarah 2:276]
