Ar-Rudd 'ala al-Jahmiyyah (Part 4): Doubts of The Jahmiyyah in The Quraan

11- Allaah, the Most High, Says:

On the Day when Allah will gather the Messengers together and say to them: "What was the response you received (from men to your teaching)? They will say: "We have no knowledge, verily, only You are the All-Knower of all that is hidden (or unseen, etc.)."” [al-Maaidah 5:109]

Here they have denied having any knowledge, however, another Aayah states:

Such will be brought before their Lord, and the witnesses will say, "These are the ones who lied against their Lord!"” [Hood 11:18]

The Jahmiyyah claim that there is a negation of knowledge then how can they self-witnesses on that Day?

Response: the denial of knowledge means the misguidance their nations innovated. As for being witnesses, then they witness the truth and admitting of their deeds.

12 - Allaah, the Most High, Says:
“Some faces that Day shall be Nadirah (shining and radiant).Looking at their Lord (Allah);”” [al-Qiyaamah 75: 22-23]
And,

No vision can grasp Him, but His Grasp is over all vision” [al- An’aam 6:103]

They deny seeing Allaah.

Further discussion on this to follow.

13- Allaah, the Most High, Says:

"Cause Fir'aun's (Pharaoh) people to enter the severest torment!"  [Ghaafir 40:46]

And,

Verily, the hyprocrites will be in the lowest depths (grade) of the Fire; no helper will you find for them.” [an-Nisaa’ 4:145]

The Jahmiyyah claim that the Kuffaar are promised a severe punishment but this is contradicted with what is said about the hypocrites.

Response: punishment afflicted on in the Hellfire is relative to the person being punished. Fir’awn and his people will have a punishment that none has ever been punished by.

As for the levels of the Hellfire, then they are seven; Jahannam (89:23), Lathaa (70:15), Hutamah (104:4), Saqar (74:42), as-Sa’eer (76:4), Jaheem (79:36) and Haawiyyah (101:9).

The hypocrites will be at the very bottom of these levels. Thus, the degree of punishment is relative and not comparative.

Tafseer: "Be With Those Who Are True"

{يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَكُونُوا مَعَ الصَّادِقِينَ}

“O you who believe! Be afraid of Allah, and be with those who are true (in words and deeds) .” [at-Tawbah 9:119]

Shaykh Saaleh aal ash-Shaykh [may Allaah Preserve him] said in explanation:

Be with the truthful in your character and attributes. Be with them in your manners. Be with them in your Emaan and having sincerity in Ikhlaas. Be truthful in your acts of worship. Be truthful in your manners and etiquettes. Be truthful in acting upon the Sharee’ah. Be with the truthful in every possible way, even if you do not personally accompany the people of truth (from the past to present) be with them in your stance and attitude. To the extent that even if you were at the peak of a mountain by yourself, then be as the truthful would be.

The Shia Have Hypocrisy

Shaykh al-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah said in describing the Raafidah (Shia) and their idea of at-Taqiyyah (which is to show something but hide a contrary belief within):

The Raafidah use the following Aayah as evidence to support their idea of ‘at-Taqiyyah’:

)لاَّ يَتَّخِذِ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ الْكَافِرِينَ أَوْلِيَاء مِن دُوْنِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَمَن يَفْعَلْ ذَلِكَ فَلَيْسَ مِنَ اللّهِ فِي شَيْءٍ إِلاَّ أَن تَتَّقُواْ مِنْهُمْ تُقَاةً ( (عمران، آية:28).

“except if you indeed fear a danger from them (the word Tuqaa has been used, meaning to show cooperation but hide inner belief).”

In response; the Raafidah are of the false belief that they are the only ones who actualize this Aayah, as they alone are hiding true inner belief whilst the rest of the Ummah are Kuffar, but they wouldn’t openly proclaim it.

However, the Aayah is in fact a proof against this false belief.

We respond to them in various ways;

Firstly, the context of the Aayah is referring to those who show apparent belief, and not the hidden kind, as Allaah, the Most High, Said:

“Let not the believers take the disbelievers as Auliya (supporters, helpers, etc.) instead of the believers…”

Secondly, the scholars are agreed that this Aayah was revealed in al-Madeenah, therefore there was no need for the believers to hide their Emaan in this period. This is because the Kuffaar were not dominant over them after the Hijrah to al-Madeenah. This exactly the opposite of the Raafaidah (who appear to be Muslims and mix with the Ummah as if they are from them but they hide a hidden belief of Kufr and hatred to the Muslims).

Thirdly, the scholars of Tafseer are in agreement that this Aayah was revealed when some of the Muslims in al-Madeenah wished to cooperate with the Kuffaar (in order to protect their families and wealth) but this Aayah made it prohibited for them to do so.

The Raafidah are from those who show the greatest deceptions in this. They show love and cooperation with Ahl as-Sunnah (i.e. Muslims who are not Shia in general) and they do not oppose the religion of the Ummah openly.

Just as how the believers used to hide their beliefs with the Mushriks of Makkah and the People of the Book, whilst hiding an inner belief in Islaam and Emaan.
With this, we realise that the Raafidah are from the furthest of those who act upon this Aayah.

As for their quotation of the last part of the Aayah:

) إِلاَّ أَن تَتَّقُواْ مِنْهُمْ تُقَاةً (

“except if you indeed fear a danger from them (the word Tuqaa has been used, meaning to show cooperation but hide inner belief).”

Then Mujaahid said it means cooperation.

Therefore, the Aayah - in no way whatsoever – promotes lying or deception or any form of inner hatred or contrary belief. It does not promote that one says something with his tongue but hides something contrary in his heart; this would be clear Nifaaq (hypocrisy who are doomed to punishment in the lowest part of the Hellfire for eternity).

Rather the Aayah is proof that the believer cooperates in what is able to.
So hiding ones Emaan in times of weakness or duress is one thing, whereas proclaiming a false belief is something completely different (and this is what the Shia do).

The Raafidah (Shia) are exactly like the hypocrites. They are not under duress, nor do they hide belief, rather they make apparent Emaan but they hide Kufr (disbelief due to their corrupt beliefs).

In summary, there is a huge difference between openly lying and deceiving and hiding Emaan under duress until one is able to openly proclaim their beliefs in monotheism.

Images of Women and It's Effects on Society

Shaykh Muhammad bin Saaleh al-‘Uthaymeen [May Allaah have Mercy on him] was asked:

What is the ruling on people being relaxed about looking at photos of foreign women, based on the ration that electronic images are not real?

He answered:

This is extreme negligence because if a person was to see an image of a woman, regardless of whether it is an electronic image or an image in the newspapers etc., it will undoubtedly be a cause of temptation that will impact the desires of the opposite gender. It will be as if a male is actually looking at a female in person, and this point is in line with our common sense.

I have even heard that some of the youth nowadays store pictures on their devices of beautiful women so that they can repeatedly look at her. This is proof that these images have become a major source of temptation for people. Therefore, it is not permissible to look at such photos, whether it be in the magazines or anywhere else (i.e. Twitter, Facebook, a profile picture, a picture of a female contact etc.).

If these images are continued to be put up then it will be a source of temptation so that people will continue looking at them and gaining pleasure by it, and all of this will cause a deficiency in one’s religion. Furthermore, continually looking at these images (including explicit images of the opposite gender) will cause these images to remain carved in one’s memory[1].

[Majmoo’ Fataawaa wa Rasaa’il (2-268/269)]

[1] Reisman. J (2004) suggested that not only do explicit images remain imprinted in the brain of the viewer but it creates alterations of the brain. It causes memory and mind loss and creates infatuation and addiction.
