Difference Between a Condition, a Cause and a Prevention (Part 19)

PRINCIPLE: The difference between a condition (الشرط), a cause (السبب) and a prevention (المانع) is:

A condition (الشرط) is when something must be present as a prerequisite, like Wudhoo is a condition for as-Salaat.

A cause (السبب) is the reason or the point of time when an action becomes legislated, such as having the threshold of valuables is a cause for Zakaat becoming obligatory.

A prevention (المانع) is when something must be removed before the action can be performed.

Therefore, a ‘condition’ and ‘prevention’ are opposites in relation to the presence of a thing.
