Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) said:
Five things, if you had them in your travels (from Iraq to
Yemen), you will find your journey worthwhile:
1-That during his travels, he fears none except Allah (i.e.
the road is safe).
2-That he doesn’t fear anyone except the wolf (i.e. his
property is protected).
3-That he is not too shy to ask about knowledge about
something he doesn’t know (i.e. benefiting in knowledge whilst travelling).
4-That he meets a teacher, if he doesn’t know then he says; “Allah
Knows best”.
5-That he is given patience upon his religion, because patience
is the head and the rest is his body.
