Chapter: Mentioning Al-Masih Son of Mariam and Al-Masih ad-Dajjal

It is narrated on the authority of 'Abdullah b. Umar that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:

I found myself one night near the Ka'bah, and I saw a man with wheat complexion amongst the fair-complexioned men that you ever saw. He had a lock of hair the most beautiful of the locks that you ever saw. He had combed it. Water was trickling out of them. He was leaning on two men, or on the shoulders of two men, and he was circumscribing the Ka'bah. I asked, What is he? It was said: He is al-Masih son of Mary. Then I saw another person, stout and having too much curly hair, and blind in his right eye as if it was a full swollen grape. I asked Who is he? It was said: He is al-Masih al-Dajjal.

Explanation
Linguistic benefits:
-Ka'bah is called Ka'bah because كعب means to elevate, so it's the elevated house.
كعب can also refer to a cube like structure

-Maseeh is originally from Hebrew.
'Esaa was called a Maseeh because he used to wipe the leper.
Mash of the land
Others said, its because he came out of the womb which was lubricated (Mamsooh) meaning with oil.
Others said he himself was blessed in his wiping over patience.

As for Maseeh al-Kaathib (the Imposter), then he is called such either because:
-His right eye is wiped over, i.e. blind.
-He will wipe over the earth, i.e. spread over the land with ease.

-جعد can be good, such as having nice hair
And it can be bad such as being too short

-The Prophet saw Esaa and Dajjaal in Makkah but Nawawi explains that this was a dream and their appearances were presented to him, as Ibn Umar explained.

Qaadhee states that the Tawaaf was actual but Nawawi rejects this.

Sharh Sahih Muslim of an-Nawawi, 2/257-263
