3 Year Academic Ilm Course: Aqidah, Hadith, Usool, Sciences, Tafsir and Arabic

AhleDhikr is launching its own institute from Sept '18. With nothing like it in Leicester or the E. Midlands, the 3 year Ilm course will teach a range of subjects in a highly analytical and academic manner. All lessons will be based in a classroom setting with final exams.

Course materials include explanations from:

Shaykh Muhammad bin Saaleh al-Uthaymin
Shaykh Saaleh bin Fawzan al-Fawzan
Shaykh Sa'd bin Nasir ash-Shathri
Shaykh Saaleh bin Abdul-Aziz aal ash-Shaykh
Shaykh Abdur-Razaq bin Abdul-Muhsin al-Abbad
and others

COURSES
The course will consist of modules in Sharia-based disciplines Aqidah, Hadith, Usool al-Fiqh, Sciences of Hadith, Sirah and Tafsir, and in Arabic language. The syllabus is structured to last a period of three years.

Attendees also have the option of selecting modules they wish to enrol on (i.e. Arabic only).

The course is delivered over the duration of two semesters, each semester consisting of 16 weeks.
Class timings are as follows:

SEMESTER 1: September – December
SEMESTER 2: January – May

Full course enrolment:

£520 for the full academic year.
£65 pcm for 32 hours of study (approximately £2.00 an hour or £4.00 a day)

Sharia or Arabic courses only:

£320 for the full academic year.
£40 pcm for 16 hours of study (approximately £2.50 an hour)

COURSE MATERIAL:
The course content for the Sharia courses is modelled on what is being taught in universities abroad. Similar to them, these courses are detailed and academic in their approach towards learning.

SYLLABUS FOR SHARIA COURSES – YEAR 1

Aqidah: Aqidah al-Wasitiyyah of Ibn Taymiyyah which is a foundational resource comprising of Creed of Tawhid and al-Asma wa as-Sifat, Manhaj and Akhlaq.

Fiqh/Hadith: Umdah al-Ahkam of Ibn Qudamah, which is a collection Hadith’s taken from either al-Bukhari or Muslim or both.

NOTE: Year 1 will begin with the Book of Purification to the Book of Hajj.
(The entire book is to be split over three years)

Usool al-Fiqh: A compilation of classical materials, such al-Waraqat and more extensive materials like Rawdah an-Nathir, this module teaches a range of maxims and principles needed to understand the Sharia.

SYLLABUS FOR SHARIA COURSES – YEAR 2

Aqidah: Aqidah at-Tahawiyyah of Imam Abu Ja’far at-Tahawi, comprising of the evolution and stances of the various ideologies and creeds in Islamic thought.

Year 2 studies are from the Chapter: Belief in Allah to Chapter: Commitors of Major Sins and Eman Are Not Destined to the Fire for Eternity.

Fiqh/Hadith: Umdah al-Ahkam of Ibn Qudamah – from the Book of Business Transactions to the Book of Inheritance.

Mustalah al-Hadith: A compilation of classical materials, such as al-Bayqooniyyah and more extensive materials like Tadreeb ar-Rawi ,with a range of principles in the sciences of Hadith, grading them and al-Jarh wa at-Ta’dil.

SYLLABUS FOR SHARIA COURSES – YEAR 3 (Final)

Aqidah: Aqidah at-Tahawiyyah of Imam Abu Ja’far at-Tahawi, comprising of the evolution and stances of the various ideologies and creeds in Islamic thought.

Year 3 studies are from Chapter: Obligation to Obey the Rulers to Chapter: The Religion of Islam (end of book).

Fiqh/Hadith: Umdah al-Ahkam of Ibn Qudamah – from the Book of Marriage to the Book of Emancipation (end of book).

Tafsir: Tafsir Ibn Kathir – parts 29 and 30, with supplementary benefits from other books of Tafsir.

ARABIC BAYNA YADAYK COURSE
Our Arabic course offers lessons in the well-known book ‘Bayna Yadayk’ with a teacher who has studied in Egypt for nearly one year. The syllabus adopted is an Egyptian one with supplement material which is currently not available for resale. The Arabic course will be highly interactive with assessments and exams.

Year 1 and Year 2 will have book 1 and 2 studied respectively.

Units include introductions/greetings, Salat and shopping, Hajj & Umrah, vacation, health & fitness, marriage life, careers, hygiene, Islam and pollution.

In Year 2, the student also begins to study in Arabic by reading and listening to actual Arabic materials, mainly the explanations of Shaykh Saleh Fawzan al-Fawzan (may Allah Preserve him).

Year 3 is the final year and it focuses on enabling the student to be able to read and listen to Arabic lessons him/her self.

The teacher will practice reading and listening authentic texts whilst empowering the student to study in Arabic independently. Pupils will study from Ibn Kathir's Sirah 'Fusool fi Sirah ar-Rasul' with an audio explanation from Shaykh Abdur-Razaq al-Abbad.
