If you want to have a firm grasp on the Sunnah then:

-Increase in looking into the books of the Sunnah, but STUDY FOUR:
1) Sahih al-Bukhari
2) Sahih Muslim
3) Sunan an-Nasai’ee

CHAPTER OF SINCERITY

Nobility of seeking Ikhlas:

1_ Sincerity is the task of the Prophets and Messengers:

TASK: Take out Mushafs and open to as-Saffat.

The motto of the Surah

2_Who is going to replace prophets?

TASK: Think of (a) person(s) you love the most.
Now, think about you would feel if you ever lost them, for eternity?

Imaam an-Nawawi:

The scholars who understand the reality of life see the importance of sitting with the Saalehin, so that they can compare their deficiencies with them, learning respect and reverence from them. So how about those who rectify (their inner-selves with Ihsan) with Allah, the Most High, being on their minds in public and private.
                                                                                            Sharh Sahih Muslim 1/158

TASK: What is Ikhlas?

HOW DO YOU KNOW YOUVE GOT IKHLAS:

1.
2.
3.
4.
5.

Hadith 2 and 3
-Niyyah and Ikhlas is important, without it being corrected it will mislead you
You may think you are upon goodness but the opposite, or visa versa.

Hadith2 is an example of something bad
Hadith3 is an example something good

Summary:
Ikhlas, or lack of, is so important with Allah, a person will be recompensed even without any action.

Hadith 4&5&6 – Financial Stories

1. The battle was intense and some Companions were left behind.

BUT they were rewarded even emotionally!

2, A man gave away Sadaqah and ended up with his own son, in his own home!
3, The story of Sa’d fearing his death, and he was instructed with financial sincerity on his death bed.
PRINCIPLE: One good intention, a person will have the reward for all the good from it, even if you didn’t intend it.

Summary
Program yourself to correct your Ikhlas.
Program yourself to do good in seeking the Akhirah.

Hadith 7:
-Ikhlas is so powerful that even the misguided can be guided by it, after mercy of Allah, the Most High.

Hadith 8&9:

Ibn Rajab said,

“Some deeds may be so great but belittled by its intention. Some deeds may be so little but applauded by its intention”

                                                                                             -Jaami Uloom wa al-Hikam

Hadith 10,11,12:
-Reward for actions, as long as one has Ikhlas is undefined.
e.g. Salat is multiplied in preparing, in action and in statement.

Benefits from the Story of the Cave:
-Ikhlaas led for the laws of the universe to be changed for them,

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah said:

“Miracles are connected to Ikhlas and ones belief in Him.”

                                                                                                   -al-Aqidah al-Wasitiyyah

Some who explained this statement said:
The condition for receiving support is based on the Ayah

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah then said:

                                                                                                   -al-Aqidah al-Wasitiyyah

Summary:
Look at what Ikhlas creates:
1-Doing with respect and veneration: e.g. dutiful to parents (you’ve been sent to make life easy for them)

2-Preserving: e.g. taking the trusts of others seriously which stops all forms hatred internally and oppression external for the Dunya alone.

3 - A connection between creator and creation: answering of Dua’, tranquillity, Tawakkul and ease of all affairs

And Allah Knows best
END OF LESSON 1
