What we aim to do is present more Ayaat from
the Quraan which discuss this topic of wealth, so that its true reality and
purpose is installed in us all. So that we can avoid being included in the
statement of the Prophet [Peace and Blessings of Allaah be upon him]:
“Perished is the slave of the Deenar (i.e.
gold). Perished is the slave of Dirham (i.e. silver)[1].”
Allaah, the Most High, Said in describing the
successful believers:
“and gives his wealth, in spite of
love for it, to the kinsfolk, to the orphans, and to Al-Masakin (the
poor), and to the wayfarer, and to those who ask” [al-Baqarah 2:177]
Why do they do this and why have they been
described in this manner?
It’s because Allaah Loves such an action and
they want Allaah to Love them. So that they get a bliss of a reward in the
Aakhirah and that their status is elevated within it.
“The likeness of those who spend their wealth in the Way of
Allah, is as the likeness of a grain (of corn); it grows seven ears, and each
ear has a hundred grains. Allah gives manifold increase to whom He pleases. And
Allah is All-Sufficient for His creatures' needs, All-Knower.” [al-Baqarah 2:261]
And,
“And the likeness of those who spend their wealth seeking
Allah's Pleasure while they in their ownselves are sure and certain that Allah
will reward them (for their spending in His Cause), is the likeness of a garden
on a height; heavy rain falls on it and it doubles its yield of harvest. And if
it does not receive heavy rain, light rain suffices it. And Allah is All-Seer
of (knows well) what you do.”
[al-Baqarah 2:265]
In this Ayaah, giving in charity has been
described as beautiful plush gardens at a elevated height, so that its spring trickles down and benefits in multitude. If there is no rain (i.e. no
multitude), then there is still beauty and benefit.
This is the similtide of those who give in for
the sake of Allaah.
Their similitude is that of those who are
content and tranquil in the Dunyaa, but why? It is because Allaah, the
Glorified and the Exalted, has Promised them a replacement, and the Promise of
the One Who Speaks the truth can never be reversed.
“And who is truer in
statement than Allah?” [an-Nisaa’
4: 87]
A promise from the One Who is Able to do all
things.
“He does what He
intends (or wills).” [al-Burooj
85:16]
The Lord of all-Glory and Might Said:
“Whatsoever you spend
of anything (in Allah's Cause), He will replace it. And He is the Best of
providers."” [Saba’ 34:39]
And He, the Glorified, Said in a Hadeeth
al-Qudsee:
“Oh son of Aadam! Spend and I Will Spend on
you![2]”
Allaah, the Glorified and the Exalted, Says in
describing those who spend and purify themselves through it, that punishment in
the Dunyaa and Aakhirah will not touch them.
He Says:
“Take Sadaqah (alms)
from their wealth in order to purify them and sanctify them with it” [at-Tawbah 9:103]
And He, the Glorified, Says:
“Indeed whosoever
purifies himself (by avoiding polytheism and accepting Islamic Monotheism or
spending in his cause) shall achieve success,” [al-A’laa 87:14]
