From The Disgrace of The Dunya Which Allaah Puts on Someone is That He Continues to Disobey Him in It

Shaykh Abdul-Muhsin al-Qaasim, Imaam and Khateeb of Masjid an-Nabawee [May Allaah Preserve him] said:

Whoever hopes to gain the ocean of the Dunya and he knows how to INTERACT with its waves, and he has patience in the resistance that the days bring; he will not have dismay in the trials that are placed upon him. He will not rejoice when well-being comes to him, nor will he be affected by the passing fortunes of this life. As a result, whatever he is tested by can be perceived to be light thus he is easily able to detach himself from it.
Ibn al-Qayyim said that Shaykh al-Islaam once said to me, “Accidents and lowliness are like hot and cold. If the slave knows that they are essential for him then he will not get angry if they come to him and he will not be depressed or grieved by it.” End quote from Madaarij as-Saalikeen, 2/389.

So the paths IN LIFE are important and people will undoubtedly BE punished and tested within them, according to how much they can handle from it. Being happy with life leads to one having despair over it, because both happiness and despair are from the flavour of life, therefore, sadness comes from happiness.
Aboo Dardaa’ [May Allaah be Pleased with him] said, “From the disgrace of the Dunya which Allaah puts on someone is that he continues to disobey Him in it, and he is not able to gain from what he has except by leaving it.”

So one should have firm resolve in the Decree of Allaah, in His creation and in the way He Organises. You should be patient in what He afflicts UPON you, and His Wisdom behind it. You should submit to his Command in the Dunya.
