Misconception: Saudi Executions are Unjustified

The understanding of the international media covering this story has been somewhat clouded, as some have interpreted the decision to execute these criminals as an act that defies justice. The ruling has been passed on criminals who were about to, or were promoting heinous crimes which are completely unacceptable.

The media has not challenged the fact that these criminals are guilty rather they have portrayed these criminals as being victims. However, if their degree of criminality was to be scrutinized, one will quickly realise that their intent was to kill innocent people, to create civil disharmony and overall, to incite hate and murder. If one was impartial and studied the facts then they wouldn’t entertain the doubts that are being spread. The reality is that these criminals plotted to what could have led to mass murders.

For this reason, one should doubt what is being spread from the misinformation or misinterpretation of international journalists. Rather, the fair-minded person must look at the law of Allaah, the Glorified and the Majestic, in relation to those who perpetrate such crimes, as in it is a great deal of betterment for all[1].

A witness to this point is the fact that the Muslim rulers, throughout the ages, have implemented capital punishment rulings that are found in the Sharee’ah, indiscriminately irrespective of factions, lineage, region, religion have taken the crime of targeting innocent people for the purpose of terrorist activities seriously and has been met with great success. They have placed a barrier between the innocent and those who want to kill and create conflict, all with the intent of turning the innocent against one another.

With this, we have to be thankful to Allaah, the Glorified and the Exalted, for giving us a solution through the laws of the Sharee’ah and that we have governments that are able to implement it. Yet despite this, we must be vigilant and it is upon us all to cooperate with the authorities and turn-in anyone that is suspected to have a similar mindset to the terrorist so that they may be held under investigation and trial.

The point is to try and preserve and protect our security, our population, our country (and religion) from anyone who is trying to corrupt and compromise it.

[1] Despite this being the case, Saudi Arabia has been reported to have approximately 151 executions for capital punishment in 2015, from a population of 28 million (most of which are foreign expatriates), compared to over 3000 being on death row in the United States of America. Iran itself has a reported 2000 executions in 2015 from a population of around 76 million. Statistics taken from http://www.deathpenaltyworldwide.org/. [TN]
