To give Da’wah to the Sunnah and to Spread it Amongst the People

Points taken from the talk ‘How to Honour the Sunnah’
Shaykh Sa’d bin Naasir ash-Shithree [May Allaah Preserve him]
Jaami’ Ameerah Mawdee bint Ahmad as-Sudayree

Another way to honour the Sunnah is to spread it amongst the people, spread the books of Sunnah, to give talks and Khutbah’s explaining the importance of the Sunnah and generally spreading its teachings. Maybe have a small talk after a selected Salaah or give speeches, all of these are examples of getting closer to Allaah, the Most High.

Something that is very little, even a few Ahaadeeth can make you a Da’ee, a caller to Allah and the reward for this is plenty.

Say: "This is my way; I invite unto Allah (i.e. to the Oneness of Allah) with sure knowledge, I and whosoever follows me with sure knowledge. And Glorified and Exalted be Allah (above all that they associate as partners with Him). And I am not of the Mushrikun (disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah)."” [Yoosuf 12:108]

And,

And who is better in speech than he who says: "My Lord is Allah (believes in His Oneness)," and then stands straight (acts upon His Order), and invites to Allah (Islamic Monotheism), and does righteous deeds, and says: "I am one of the Muslims."” [Fussilat 41:33]

So via Da’wah people get closer to Allaah, the Most High. They strengthen their Eemaan and they end up emulating The Prophet [Peace and Blessings of Allaah be Upon him]. By this, people end up honouring the Sunnah because of something very simple that they may have heard from you.

“There is none of you except that he will stand before Allaah on the Day of Judgement, there will be no need for an interpreter between you both. Then the person standing will look below his feet and he will not find anything on his feet, then he will look in front of him and in front of him will be the Fire. So whoever is able to save himself from the Fire then he should do so, even if it be via half a date (i.e. giving in Sadaqah with sincerity for Allaah even if it is very small)” [Reprted by al-Bukhaaree (6539)]

Look at this Hadeeth, half a date is nothing! Something very small yet it saves one from the Fire! Then how about giving Da’wah; a goodly talk or just a few words that help one another to be guided?

Muslim narrated in his Saheeh (2674) from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever calls others to guidance will have a reward like that of those who follow it, without that detracting from their reward in the slightest. And whoever calls others to misguidance will have a burden of sin like that of those who follow it, without it detracting from their burden in the slightest.”
