Ash-Sharbeenee (may Allah have Mercy on him) said:
At the time of the Salaf, in the mornings the pavements used to be filled with
people making their way to the Masjid with lanterns, because they use to leave
for the Jumu’ah during/before the darkness of al-Fajr. From the very first innovations that occurred in this Ummah was the abandonment of heading out
early to the Jumu’ah. End quote.
