Shaykh Muhammad bin Saaleh al-‘Uthaymeen [May Allaah have
Mercy on him] said:
Many of those who deliver Khutbah’s today talk about topics
which are not befitting to the time (or the audience). They have not connected
their speech to the times they are in, and this is not appropriate.
The one giving the Khutbah must give speeches that
admonition the listeners to do good deeds which they can benefit from
throughout their lives.
