-If a person has an
orgasm but doesn’t ejaculate then Ghusl is Waajib upon him regardless.
Uthaymeen explains that there are two opinions.
This is the opinion of the
Hanbalees – that "dry orgasm" carries the same ruling as ejaculation
because biologically, it is possible for a person to orgasm without
ejaculating. The sign of this is when persons' desires are cut or reduced
because of this.
An example given by
the scholars is that if a person suddenly holds his genitals during intercourse
so that semen doesn’t ejaculate. In this case, Ghusl is still Waajib upon him.
The other opinion,
that of Shaykh al-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah and others from the scholars, stated
that Ghusl is not Waajib upon him and this is the correct opinion with
Uthaymeen. Their evidences are as follows:
1-The Hadeeth of Umm Sulaym [may Allaah be Pleased with her] where a
woman asked the Prophet [Peace and Blessings of Allaah be upon him] about
erotic dreams and whether she needs to have Ghusl after, to which he replied,
"Yes, if she sees fluid." [Reported by al-Bukhaaree (130) and Muslim
(310)]
The point here is that feelings don’t carry the same ruling of physical
ejaculation. If that had been the case, the Prophet wouldn’t have specified
seeing fluid.
2- The Hadeeth of Aboo Sa'eed al-Khudree [may Allaah be Pleased with
him] in which the Prophet [Peace and Blessings of Allaah be upon him] said,
"Water (bathing) is for water (semen)" [Reported by Muslim (343)]
The point here is that bathing becomes obligatory when the semen (Maniy)
is physically ejaculated, otherwise not.
3-There is no proof for obligating Ghusl for "dry orgasms".
