Wahb bin Munabbih (d. 114 or 115AH) [may Allaah have
Marcy on him], one of the Imaams of the Salaf wisely said:
Knowledge is a close companion of a person,
Whilst forbearance is his minister.
Intellect is the guide of a person,
Whilst his action demonstrate his worth.
His patience is the leader of his army,
Whilst kindness is his father and gentleness is
his brother.
He also said:
The Believer takes heed so that he may learn.
He only speaks in order to acquire
understanding.
He remains silent in order to produce.
And he isolates himself in order to reap
rewards.
