The Call to The Islamic Faith by Imam as-Sa’di

 بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Points of Benefits from

The Call to The Islamic Faith

by

Imam as-Sa’di

Notes based on commentary
of
Shaykh Saaleh bin Sa'd as-Suhaymi
(Allah Preserve him)

1-Calling to Islam is an act of worship which is beloved to Allah, the Most High, so He commands it and describes those who do it properly as being the best of those in speech.
2-Success is in bringing about good practice and preventing and advising against bad ones.
3-Any small amount of good that comes about from it will be something they will be pleased about on the Day of Judgement.
4-It applies to all times and places; hence the very nature of this act of worship puts out falsehood.
5-Through it, the correct representation of Islam is established and the reoccurring doubts and thoughts of Shayateen are refuted.
6-The Prophet (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him) was sent to the falsehood of the people of Shirk in Jahiliyyah and the People of the Book, yet he was not found to have bad manners with them (Da’wah through actions). He was consistent and had no contradictions - this is proof that he came with the truth.
7-Allah, the Most High, allowed for him to be tested by them and he was tested with the most secretive of tests. However, his manners and Subr with them was Da’wah in itself, as he never comprised his message or his manners or his approach.
8-The ones that listened to his call (Peace be upon him) became the leaders of the call (may Allah be Pleased with them all). They developed like no other group of people haved developed.
9-Had any of the previous points (no. 6-8) been untrue, the people who rejected him would have used it against him in his call. However, this has never been contested. Thus, in in his character - they tacitly admit the truth of the call that he came with.
10-The people he was sent to had no previous nurturing, so the fact that he (Peace be upon him) called them and created knowledgeable and wise pious scholars which suppressed the rank of kings and ministers, is proof that the Da’wah of Islam came with the truth.

Notes from Good Manners by Imam as-Sa'di

 بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Notes from

Good Manners

by

Imam as-Sa'di

Based on commentary by

Shaykh Muhammad Hisham at-Tahiri

Allah Preserve him

1-Good manners is only attained after hard work - it doesn’t fall in your lap

2-From the virtues of having good manners, it’s something that Allah loves. In it is the preservation of the Fitrah and the way of people of Jannah whilst still on earth.

3-The one who has it is following the Prophet (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him) and all of the Prophets (Peace be upon them all) that came before. Therefore, he is siding with good over evil.

4-You will not please the creation, but you can please the Creator. If you please the Creator, the creation will benefit and as a result will pleased with you anyway.

5-The one with good manners finds it easier to do good deeds. This is because good manners brings about clarity and a calmness.

6-It gives morals and prevents anything bad coming from the person.

7-It removes a bad response towards people but it actually gives the opposite. For example, if a person insults him - he will be prevented in reciprocating the harm but his goodly response will at very least show the one without bad manners on how to actually behave.

8-They are not concerned with things that don't benefit them - they are have more maturity than that.

9-They are the people of Tawbah, the people of change and development. The one with good manners knows he himself needs to strive (Mujahadah). The person who is content will not think there is an illness, this is self-praise and defies humility and proper character.

10-They have higher aspirations - they want Jannah and are not set back by worldly difficulties. The people of the Dunya make their manners for the Dunya alone.

11-When a person lives in bad manners, he continues in his Dunya in this state. Meaning, this Dunya becomes his objective so he leaves good manners for the Akhirah. Yet, in his own bad manners he remains punishing himself on a daily basis until he leaves it.

And Allah Knows best.

Ruling on Discussing Knowledge whilst Walking or on the Road

Sahih al-Bukhari, Book 93: Judgements

Chapter 10: Issuing Judgements and Religious Whilst it on the Road Yahya bin Ya'mar used to offer judgements whilst on the road. ash-Sha'bi used to give judgements at the door of his home. 7153 - Narrated Anas bin Malik: While the Prophet (ﷺ) and I were coming out of the mosque, a man met us outside the gate. The man said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! When will be the Hour?" The Prophet (ﷺ) asked him, "What have you prepared for it?" The man became afraid and ashamed and then said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! I haven't prepared for it much of fasts, prayers or charitable gifts but I love Allah and His Apostle." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "You will be with the one whom you love."
(Hadith translation taken from Sunnah.com)
Ibn Hajar states in Fath al-Bari: Ash-hab said, "There is no harm in giving religious verdicts (and advice whilst walking) if it doesn't deter from the understanding." Suhnoon said, "It is not befitting" Ibn Habeeb said, "There is no harm if it is slight but something complex is not allowed." Ibn Battal said, "It is good" Ibn Hajar concluded, "What Ash-hab said is closest to the evidence" And Allah Knows best

Uthaymeen: Advice on How to Use the Internet

My advice to my brothers about their usage of the internet or when watching television is to fear Allah in their innerselves. They nust realise that they have not been created for this rather they have been created for the purpose of worshipping Allah, the Exalted and Glorified.

And if they continue to degrade themselves to that of the habit of animals by only seeking to fulfil whatever they desire and whim – then they have lost the Dunya and the Akhirah, may Allah protect us.

So it is upon the Muslims to protect their religion, to preserve the usage of their time and not to let thier life which is priceless, priceless, priceless escape them.

Bin Baaz: Ruling on Placing Deceased in Plastic Bags

Q: Some of the deceased that are washed as a result of a car accident are then placed in a plastic bag to make sure that blood doesn’t spoil the shroud?

A: There is no harm in placing something over an injury to withhold it.

al-Humayd: We Use Our Phones to Follow the Free-Time of Others

We – Snapchat users – pay attention, I was astounded by this a great deal. One of its users said, “We fill our own time by following the free-time of others and the nonsense of the immature…”

This is true, by Allah, the Supreme.

Why?

Because most of the content you find on it (and their phones and platforms like Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter etc.) is devoid of anything beneficial.

Of course, you have some content on these platforms which are beneficial [1], however most of what is recorded are recorded in places of no benefit (such as coffee shops, restaurants, parties, things that kill time, stories, pranks, jokes etc.).

So where is the problem?

The problem is that the followers of these platforms feel that they are following something that is worthy of being followed.

They feel that this is (the essence of) life.

But the opposite, it curbs life. It curbs life in every single manner – such behaviour doesn’t bring a positive impact in the slightest.

Member of Panel of Senior Scholars and Permanent Committee of Fatwa and Research, Imam and Khateeb of al-Masjid al-Haram in Makkah

[1] Imam ash-Shatibi (may Allah have Mercy on him) said, “If, whatever you do in your free time has nothing prohibited involved – then it is permitted. However, it could be that it is still blameworthy and such a state is disliked by the scholars. Rather, the scholars used to abhor that a person doesn’t spend his time in doing something which is of no benefit, not benefitting life or the afterlife – because (time that is not filled with something useful) is a passing (of time) which he has not used to gain anything by it.” End quote from al-Muwaafaqaat (1-204/205).

Ash-Shathri: The Salaf Closed the Masjid as a Way to Lift the Pandemic

This was the same approach taken by the Companions (Allah be Pleased with them) during the time of Umar bin al-Khattab (Allah be Pleased with him) when the plague of Amwas afflicted them in Sham where a large number of people were afflicted and it resulted in a lot difficulties. Amr bin al-'As (Allah be Pleased with him) was made responsible and he commanded that the populous leave the urban living area and move into the valleys and the mountains. As a result of this, the Salat in the Masjid were forfeited and likewise Salat al-Jumuah. They took this action as a way to repel the pandemic - with the Permission of Allah, the Glorifed and Exalted -. This then reached the leader of the believers Umar bin al-Khattab (Allah be Pleased with him), and he didn't disapprove of the action and he didn’t reject it either. Rather, he approved of these measures and this was one of the approaches they took to have the pandemic lifted.
