Allaah, the Most High, says:
وَاتَّقُوا يَوْمًا تُرْجَعُونَ فِيهِ إِلَى اللَّهِ ثُمَّ تُوَفَّى كُلُّ نَفْسٍ مَا كَسَبَتْ وَهُمْ لَا يُظْلَمُونَ
"And be afraid of the Day when you shall be brought back to Allah. Then every person shall be paid what he earned, and they shall not be dealt with unjustly."
[Baqarah 2:281]
Imaam Abu Ja'faar, Ibn Jareer at-Tabaree [May Allaah have Mercy on him] said in his Tafseer:
"Allaah, the Exalted, is telling us to fear, oh people, the Day on which you will return to Him. Have fear in that Day because if you return to Him with bad and evil deeds, you will be destroyed or you will be humiliated and disgraced because of them. Or it may be that you may become undignified and that which was covering you from people from finding out your sins has vanished. Or it may be that one of the destroying sins leaves you in peril. So it is obligatory upon you to stay away from the punishments of Allaah and that you do not let them out pace you on the journey to that Day.
Verily, that is a day that everyone will be rewarded and recompensed for their deeds. There is no other day that is more tiring than that day, there will be no repentance or ability to resign on that day, rather it will be a Day that everyone will be recompensed and accounted.
Every soul that dies will have a reward or recompense for what they set forth in their lives, from the good deeds or bad. Nothing big nor small will be left out on that Day, from the good or bad deeds, except that it will come and be presented to the doer.
So the person will then have to answer and he will receive a reward for it with justice from his Lord. They will not be oppressed. How can it be when He will only Punish the bad deed with one account but the good deeds will be multiplied in tens? No! Rather this is the justice that you will be faced with, Oh sinner! And for you Oh good doer! You will be given even more in reward than what your good deed actually equate to.
So fear your Lord, obey His Commands and take His Warnings seriously by not disobeying Him. He should be careful and look ahead to the attack and punishment he may face on that day; these are from the heavy burdens that he may carry on his back. Be warned from having little good deeds, for verily He, The Glorified and The Exalted, has forewarned us with this fearful preaching."
