Ibn al-Qayyim: if they seek your pardon...

Ibn al-Qayyim (Allah have mercy on him):

If someone has wronged you and they seek your pardon, it is from humility (to Allah) that is necessitates accepting their excuses, whether they are speaking the truth or not - and for you to leave their affair with Allah.

Ibn Taymiyyah: Feeding on the Days of at-Tashreeq is a Symbol of Islam

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (Allah have mercy on him) was asked:

Question: what is the ruling on a person completing the Quran and feeding people on the night of the Prophet’s (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him) birthday[1], is this recommended or not?

Answer:

All praises are for Allah[2].

Gathering people for the two Eid’s and the Days of at-Tashreeq (11th to 13th of Dhu al-Hijjah) is a Sunnah and a symbol of Islam. It is a Sunnah that was established by the Messenger of Allah (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him) and the Muslims, for the purpose of looking after the poor and needy by feeding them… End quote.

[1] TN: note, innovated occasions attributed to the Shari’ah have no precedence and as there isn’t one, rulings connected to them become confusing – which then create even more innovations and confusion!

[2] TN: Islamic responses must begin with the name of Allah, either the Basmallah or praising Him, however what is common in the Sunnah, is that the Prophet (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him) used to begin verbal responses with praising Allah.
