Clean Hearts and Brotherhood

Yunus bin Ubayd (d. 140 AH - may Allah have mercy on him) was afflicted with an illness. So it was said to him, “Ibn Awf has not visited you.”

So he said, “If we trust in the affection of our brother (towards us), it would not harm him if he doesn’t come.”

The worst of sin with Allah (Glorified and Exalted)

On the authority of Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah said:

The worst sin with Allah (the Glorified and Exalted) – a man who marries a woman and when he fulfils his desires with her, he divorces her and leaves with her dower (he doesn’t pay her the Mahr). And a man who uses another man for his services but leaves with his wage (doesn’t pay him). And a person who kills an animal for no reason.

Al-Uthaymeen: The Combination of Peace and Blessings in Dua for the Prophet ﷺ

Ibn al-Uthaymeen (may Allah have Mercy on him) said:

The combination of sending Peace and Blessings (in supplication) upon the Prophet has a marvelling secret:

Blessings: the supplicant is asking for something to be given to him - praise.

Peace: the supplicant is asking for something to be diverted from him – harm.

Ibn al-Jawzi: Make a Pledge to Pray for Blessings upon Him

Ibn al-Jawzi (may Allah have mercy on him) said:

Servants of Allah! Make a pledge to pray for blessings upon our beloved Muhammad (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him), because Allah (The Most High) – if he wants good for His servant, He will make easy on his tongue the supplication of blessings upon Muhammad. End quote.

Al-Usaymi: Be Warned of an Illusion

A mirage creates an image for man that there is water in the desert, but when they look for it - they don’t find it. Perhaps they even die because of it. Most today, have mirages in all of their affairs. His conjecture is pulling him. His imagination is deceiving him. As a result, his life is corrupted - except for whom my Lord has Mercy on. So be careful of a pursuit in which behind it is actually a deceiving mirage.

Bin Baz and Our Obligation to Earthquakes

Shaykh Abdul-Azeez bin Baaz (may Allah have Mercy on him) said:

It is obligatory after earthquakes - and other distasters such as eclipses, winds, floods etc. - that we hasten to make Tawbah with Allah (the Glorified), show weakness to Him and ask Him for Protection; to increase in Dhikr and Istighfar.

This is how he said (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him) about the eclipse:

"If you see it, hasten to the Dhikr of Allah, supplicate to Him and make Istighfar with Him."

Ibn Umar whilst on Mount as-Safa

Reported by Imam Malik bin Anas on the authority of Nafi that he heard Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be Pleased with him)[1], whilst he was ascended on Mount as-Safa, supplicating::

O Allah! You said, "Call upon me, I will respond to you" (40:60) and you do not fail on your promises!

And I ask you, just like you guided me to al-Islam, that you do not remove it from me until I die whilst I am still Muslim.

Muwatta of Imam Malik, 1091

[1] Imam an-Nawawi said this narration is on the condition of the two Shaykhs (al-Bukhari and Muslim) [al-Majmoo’ 8/68] and is known with the scholars of Hadeeth as “The Golden Chain”
