Civil Unrest and Social Media

[About information which displeases the believer] You reject it in the heart, on the tongue and explain the truth to the people. It is not permitted to spread it and send it to others. Some ignoramus send images and want others to see it.

This is wrong!

Do you want Baatil (falsehood) to spread?

Some people spread these things on social media but they are helping to spread falsehood!

Rather, if something like this comes to you – delete it from your phone and don’t send it to others.

Subhanallah!

Questioner: many of the Muslim youth use their time to follow the news from the Kuffar to find out what oppression is taking place against the Muslims, and they spend a long time doing this…

Answer: Once you know it’s happening, what’s going to happen?

“Such and such people have done this” and “others have done that.”

What are they going to do now? Do they have a solution? Do they have anything to offer to stop it or to reduce the oppression?

They only follow these things to find out what is happening, nothing else.

Everything has to be balanced between transgression (Ifraat) and negligence (Tafreet)

Wasting your time in following these things and watching at clips with the latest information, wastes so much time and this is transgression.

And transgression is blameworthy in all things.

Transgression is to go beyond the bounds with that which is appropriate.

al-Usaymee: Beware of Removing Extremism with Extremism

Shaykh Saaleh bin Abdillah al-Usaymee (Allah Preserve him)

Member of the Committee of Senior Scholars

Beware of repelling extremism affiliated with religion with extremism that eradicates religion. A corrupt medicine only increases the disease.

The who doesn’t know what is falsehood will not recognize the truth. And if a weapon is in the hands of someone who doesn’t know, he will [undoubtedly] attack his ally, rather it could even kill the one holding it.

The Worst Form of the Khwaarij: Those Who Entice Hatred Against the Muslims and Their Rulers

Imaam Aboo Dawood reported in Masaa’il Imaam Ahmad [may Allaah have Mercy on them both] that Imaam Ahmad said, “The Q’ad (قعد) sect of the Khwaarij are the worst of the Khwaarij.”
The famous well-known scholar of the Arabic language, Imaam az-Zubaydee said:
Al-Qa’dah are sect of the Khwaarij. They sat (Q’ad) and refused to support ‘Alee bin Abee Taalib (who the Khwaarij wanted to assassinate), however, they didn’t physically support the party that killed him either.
So the meaning of Qa’d is they do not show physical support or get involved in acts of violence.
He continued:
They are sect that propagate hate against the rulers without participating in actual war. End quote.
[Taaaj al-‘Aroos (5/195)]
Haafidh Ibn Hajar [may Allaah have Mercy on him] said:
The Qa’deeyyah are those who glorify the beliefs and the acts of the Khwaarij, propagating hate against the rulers, without actually getting involved in a physical revolution. End quote.
[Hadee as-Saaree Muqadimmah Fath al-Baaree (Pg. 459)]
He also said:
The Qa’d sect of the Khwaarij don’t believe in physical warfare and revolt against oppressive Muslim rulers, rather they spread hate and rejection of their decisions according to their ability. They call to what they think should change politically, whilst praising their Khwaarij and their doings. End quote.

Al-Islaam Prohibits The Killing of Innocent People

It says in The Sealed Nectar by Shaykh Safe ear-Rahmaan al-Mubaarakpooree:
The Messenger of Allaah [Peace and Blessings of Allaah be Upon him] said, “Fight in the name of Allaah, for the Sake of Allaah, those who disbelieve in Allaah and do not be treacherous and do not ambush them and do not kill women or children, nor any elderly, nor a worshipper and do not destroy their plantations or trees and do not destroy their buildings.”
[Narrated by Muslim (1731)]

[Chapter of the Battle of Mu’tah (8 A.H): Arabic version, Daar Ibn al-Jawzee (Pg. 391)]

Shaykh ‘Abdur-Rahmaan bin ‘Abdullah al-‘Ajlaan [May Allaah Preserve him], a teacher in Masjid al-Haram in Makkah al-Mukarramah since 1410 A.H, said in explanation:

Fight in the name of Allaah, for the Sake of Allaah, those who disbelieve in Allaah: Meaning, do not seek fame or wealth or power by fighting people…

Those who disbelieve in Allaah: Do not call those who display their Islaam, Kuffaar. They are our brothers and we are sacred to them and they are sacred to us…

Do not be treacherous: Do not be treacherous, meaning don’t break the treaties that you have. Don’t say that you have peace with a people and then you act treacherous in that!? Being treacherous is an ugly characteristic and is a major sin from the major sins, to the extent that the Prophet [Peace and Blessings of Allaah be Upon him] described those who are treacherous as it being a sign of their hypocrisy, “…If he makes a treaty then he is treacherous…” [al-Bukharee (33) and Muslim (59)] meaning they make a treaty and they break it.

Do not ambush them: Do not be deceptive to the Kuffaar, first call them to al-Islaam and if they answer then Alhumdulillah, but if they refuse to accept al-Islaam then do not mutate them, meaning don’t kill them during the night whilst they are sleeping.

Do not kill women or children, nor any elderly, nor a worshipper: Do not kill women or children; they are not targets of war so it is not permissible to kill them. In this Hadeeth we have evidence that we are not allowed to kill innocent civilians. We don’t fight people who are not fighting with us (i.e. on a battle field). The same goes for the elderly, we are not allowed to kill the elderly or those worshipping in their monasteries. Even though we differ from them in our religion and we believe that they are not guided to the correct religion, but they are still protected and their lives are preserved. We do not kill innocent people.

Do not destroy their plantations or trees and do not destroy their buildings: Meaning do not destroy anything that has been built because the Prophet [Peace and Blessings of Allaah be Upon him] was not sent to destroy rather he was sent to guide people and call them to al-Islaam. So don’t destroy their lands. The way of the Salaf was to call people to al-Islaam with by displaying good manners and dealing with non-Muslims in the best way, being truthful to them and advising them. Being firm upon the truth and upholding justice, whether judging between Muslims or Kuffaar. This is the opposite of many of the Muslims we find today, and Allaah’s Refuge is Sought. They give al-Islaam a bad reputation with their poor manners and untrustworthy dealings with the Kuffaar. The Kuffaar see Muslims behave in such way so they conclude that there is no goodness in al-Islaam; despite the fact that al-Islaam calls to all forms of goodness and kindness, to the extent that even animals are given their rights.

Al-Islaam prohibits Muslims from spreading mischief in the land and from destroying peoples properties. As Allaah, the Most High, says:

“Verily, Allah likes not the Mufsidun (those who commit great crimes and sins, oppressors, tyrants, mischief-makers, corrupts).” [al-Qasas 28:77]

And He, the Most High, says:

“Verily, Allah does not set right the work of Al-Mufsidun (the evil-doers, corrupts, etc.).” [Yoonus 10:81]

Houses, churches and all their buildings are protected and it is not permissible to destroy them. The Prophet [Peace and Blessings of Allaah be Upon him] had respect for their properties and if al-Islaam prohibits us from killing innocent people then it also prohibits us from destroying their wealth, as Allaah says:

8. Allah does not forbid you to deal justly and kindly with those who fought not against you on account of religion and did not drive you out of your homes. Verily, Allah loves those who deal with equity.
9. It is only as regards those who fought against you on account of religion, and have driven you out of your homes, and helped to drive you out, that Allah forbids you to befriend them. And whosoever will befriend them, then such are the Zalimun (wrong-doers those who disobey Allah).” [al-Mumtahinah 60: 8-9]

This refers to those who are innocent. No harm should reach them and their wealth and properties are not permissible for us to harm either.

This is a summary of the advice that the Prophet [Peace and Blessings of Allaah be Upon him] gave to those who left al-Madeenah to go and fight those in the north in the battle of Mu’tah.

ISIS Attacking Worshippers in Their Masaajid Like Their Predecessors

Shaykh Muhammad bin Saaleh al-‘Uthaymeen [may Allaah have Mercy on him] said:

The Qaraamitah are the companions of a man called Qirmit. His ‘Aqeedah was that of the despicable beliefs of the Baatiniyyah (Ismaeli Shia’s)[1]. As a result of this, he had great enmity with the Muslim masses - may Allaah Protect us – to the extent that he and his men entered into Makkah during the Hajj season and killed scores of Muslims whilst they performed their rituals. He massacred them as they performed Tawaaf around the Ka’bah and threw their corpses into the well of Zam Zam, corrupting its pure water and he left Makkah by stealing the Black Stone; taking it with him to al-Ihsaa so that people can travel to him instead and perform Hajj there. The stone remained with him there for approximately twenty-two years until it was liberated. So these are the Qaraamitah and they have intense hatred for the Muslims.

A Summary of the Origins and the Beliefs of ISIS and al-Qaeda

This research looks into the background, methodology and beliefs of this deviated sect and those like it.

It doesn't aim to respond to their misconceptions, but just expose and make clear their fallacies and objectives.

It is must for us to read and spread this information as their doubts are becoming ever more relevant. Some have been effected by the images, and as a result, have been driven by their emotions to sympathize with them. Others hold political views about current affairs whilst sharing some of the principles and objectives of this extremist group without even realizing it, whilst others are far worse.

So I ask Allaah to make this beneficial for myself, the Shaykh and the readers and that He Gives the Ummah peace and security, verily He is Able to do all things, and upon Him I put my trust...

Background of ISIS

All extremist groups have founded their beliefs and targets based on the teachings of Sayyid Imaam 'Abdul-'Azeez who is also known as Dr. Fadal.

The call was to bring an uprising by using violence under the name of Islaamic Jihaad. They recognised that this could only be accomplished by adopting a method of making Takfeer of the masses and their rulers. The objective was to establish an Islaamic state through the means of revoution and violence.

An evolution of this revolution sprung up in the 1960's of this ideology and was spreaheaded by two inspriational figureheads: Aboo 'Alaa al-Mawdoodee (Pakistan) and Sayyid Qutb (Egypt). Nowadays, all branches of extremist groups all lead back to the ideologies and teachings of these two radicals.

Arguably, the differences between the approaches of these two deviant callers and the foundations of Ikhwaan al-Muslimeen (the political party also known as the Islamic Brotherhood based in Egypt) was that their leader, Hasan al-Banna, didn't adopt a violent approach, whilst these two were deemed as being extreme even within their communion because their call to adopt violent means to topple legitimate Muslim governments.

A Summary of the Beliefs and Targets of ISIS

Both al-Qaedah and ISIS are extremist groups that share the same ideology and targets. From them include the following:

-All Muslim rulers are Kuffaar. This stems directly from the teachings of al-Mawdoodee and Qutb.

-All forms of ruling by other than the Sharee'ah is Kufr, irrespective of whether the ruler has made Istihlaal or not (i.e. regardless of whether the ruler believes in replacing the Sharee’ah or not. Sunni scholars affirm that replacing the Sharee’ah constitutes Kufr, otherwise it may not, however ISIS don’t make this differentiation).

-There is no difference between Kufr that is agreed upon and Kufr that the scholars have differed upon. All acts of Kufr are interpretated as being Kufr, without any excuse of Ijtihaad or ignorance.

-There is no difference between Mu'aawanah (cooperating, even if it is for a legitimate Islaamic reason), Mudaahanah (making treaties for the benefit of Islaam and the Muslims) and Ta'aaluf (softness) with the Kuffaar - all of it is Kufr.

-There is no differences between Istihlaal or weakness of sins (refer to point 2).

-The Tawaagheet (pl. Taaghoot: something obeyed besides Allaah) of the living are worse than the Tawaagheet of the deceased. Meaning, the Kufr of the rulers is far worse than grave worship.

They have even coined a phrase in relation to this:

“The Shirk of the palaces (Qusoor) is worse than the Shirk of the graves (Quboor).”

-Making Jihaad against the rulers is Fard al-‘Ayn (an obligation) upon every single Muslim.

-Ijtihaad that dictates Jihaad not being present or Fatwaas issued restricting the conditions of Jihaad, is Ijtihaad that is void and unacceptable.

-Jihaad against the rulers takes precedence against the Kuffaar Uslee, because we need to defend the Muslim lands, establish a state, and remove apostasy as Riddah is worse than Kufr Uslee.

-Scholars, ministers, soldiers, police officers and all government workers are also Kuffaar by association of their governments. Sunni scholars have conditions for declaring others as leaving the fold of al-Islaam known as ad-Dawaabit at-Takfeer. From them is that the mistake must be clarified before placing a ruling on people.

All of the above falls under the innivated terminology of at-Tawheed al-Haakimiyyah

-The Muslim Ummah today is like the time of Aboo Bakr. Aboo Bakr was faced by tribes that became apostates and they view that their cult as being like the city of al-Madeenah; a place for the Muslims and anything besides this are cities and countries which have become apostates from al-Islaam and are destined to the fire.

Based on this, the whole world is Daar al-Kufr (possibly Daar al-Harb) including Makkah and al-Madeenah.

-The average Muslim falls under four: Kaafir (disbeliever), Murtad (apostate), Mastoor Haal or Majhool al-Haal.

Haal: meaning, they appear to be Muslim but their beliefs/allegiance are uncertain.

Majhool al-Haal: meaning, this person is not a Muslim in his appearance and it is not apparent by his action. It is permissible to kill such a person and take his wealth.

Note: All of these categorizations and innovated principles have only been introduced into the religion to justify killing innocent people and permit mass murder.

-There is no such thing as treaty or excuses, anybody that does not hear and obey the Caliph or uphold to the body of the Muslims, then they are eligible to be fought and killed.

Thus they believe legitimate leadership only belongs to them and if anyone disagrees must be killed as apostates.

-Lying, deceiving and treachery are allowed as its part of war. Therefore its allowed to hide ones beliefs in order to infiltrate and create splinter cells.

This clearly contradicts the conditions of Jihaad, of them, having an Imaam and fighting on the battle field alone.

-All rulers are either Kuffar, apostates or hypocrites, as well as all their citizens. They issued a verdict stating that merely holding a visa or a nationality makes one Kaafir by association. Some of their quotes even state one is a Kaafir even by raising a flag.

-The scholars are hypocrites and their Fatwaa is null and void.

-Major sins takes one out of al-Islaam. Interest, fornication, bribery and not giving allegiance to the Caliph are all acts of apostasy.

-Women, children and the elderly are all fair game and their intentions are not questioned.

-Non-Muslims are subject to war also, irrespective if they are a Dhimmee (a non-Muslim citizen in an Islaamic country), Musta’man (a person who has been granted security by a Muslim country), Mu’aahad (a person who has a treaty with a Muslim country), and killing them in greater number is more virtuous.

-Possessing citizenship shows one is pleased with Kufr. Thus his wealth, honour and blood are permissible and are deemed as apostates as they have chosen to mix and live with the Kuffaar.

-Possessing a visa is not an trust (Amaanah); if it is then we are allowed to take it with deception and not uphold it's conditions – with the purpose to kill and massacre.

Strikes on Syria Intensify

Imaam of the Haram in Makkah, Shaykh Sa’ood ash-Shuraym tweeted in poetry:

They have killed the Slaves of Allaah like the way you would kill criminals,
Bombarding upon Syria with the worst of offensives,
If you seek to intercede they will claim deceitfully,
“No harm done, our war is with [adopting] terrorism!”

If Only They Sought Knowledge They Would Have Been Saved From Extremism

Imaam Maalik bin Anas [May Allaah have Mercy on him] (d. 179) said:

Those who are excessive in acts of worship and neglect seeking knowledge became those who left the Ummah of Muhammad with their swords (i.e. became extremists). Had they sought knowledge, they would have been saved from such deviation.

Characteristics Define People's Islaam

Shaykh Sa’ood bin Ibraaheem ash-Shuraym [May Allaah Preserve him] Tweeted:

The Prophet [Peace and Blessings of Allaah be upon him] didn’t mention the name of the Khawaarij nor did he mention other names of other sects, nor of the name of the group who are rightly guided, but he described each and every one of them by their characteristics. This is because names and labels can be claimed anyone but characteristics defines the reality of a person without there remaining any confusion.

Extremism and Terrorism are forms of Hypocrisy in al-Islaam

It was narrated by Muslim in his Saheeh (1063) on the authority of Jaabir bin ‘Abdullah [May Allaah be Pleased with him] that the Messenger of Allaah [Peace and Blessings of Allaah be Upon him] was at Ja’raanah handing out the war booty after the battle of al-Hunayn. He rewarded Bilaal [May Allaah be Pleased with him] with some silver and the kept some for himself. A man (his name was Dhoo Khuwaysarah at-Tameemee) came and said, “Oh Muhammad! Be fair!” So he [May Allaah be Pleased with him] replied, “Woe to you! Who is just if I am not just? Everything will be lost and destroyed if I wasn’t being fair.” So ’Umar bin a-Khattaab [May Allaah be Pleased with him] said, “Permit me, Oh Messenger of Allaah! I will kill this hypocrite.” So he [Peace and Blessings of Allaah be Upon him] said, “Allaah forbid, people will go around saying that I kill my own Companions. This person and his companions all recite the Quraan but it doesn't go below their throats (i.e. it doesn't affect their piety) and they take people out of al-Islaam just as spears that are thrown in battle.”

Shaykh al-Islaam Ibn Tamiyyah [May Allaah be Pleased with him] explained that the Khwaarij (a deviant sect that have views similar to extremists today) believe:
“The blood of those who are from Ahl al-Qiblah (i.e. Muslims, whether they are deviated in their sects or not) are apostates (i.e. disbelievers and no longer Muslim), because of their (false) beliefs and therefore their blood is lawful, even more so than that of the Kuffaar, because their crime of apostasy is worse than those who are disbelievers.”

He continued in describing them:
“From the essence of their deviation is that they hold that the scholars and the leaders of the Muslims, as well the Muslim community, are unjust and as a result, they are misguided. They have taken this idea, to leave the Sunnis and to oppose them, from the Rawaafidah (i.e. the Shi’ah). Added to this, they believe that those who sin are oppressors, and those who oppress are Kuffaar. As a consequence, they have applied Kufr to people and invented innovated principles in applying them and labelling people with Kufr. In every aspect of their belief they have left some fundamental aspects which make the basis of al-Islaam, until they are come to the position (that those who oppose them have left al-Islaam), exiting people like spears (when thrown during a battle) from al-Islaam.”

[Majmoo’ al-Fataawaa (28/497)]

Shaykh al-Islaam Ibn Tamiyyah [May Allaah be Pleased with him] then expanded upon the Hadeeth above in describing this man as a hypocrite, he said:
This man has been described as a hypocrite, with the texts of the Quraan, by His Statement:

“And of them are some who accuse you (O Muhammad) in the matter of (the distribution of) the alms.” [at-Tawbah 9:58]
Meaning, if you don’t give to them then they will insult you. Just like the man who said to the Messenger of Allaah [Peace and Blessings of Allaah be Upon him], “Oh Muhammad! Be fair!” This is because he wasn’t given a share and accused the Messenger of Allaah [Peace and Blessings of Allaah be Upon him] of favouritism and that he didn't fear Allaah! So he responded by saying, “Is there no one on the earth that fears Allaah more than me? Are you accusing me whilst I am entrusted from the Heavens?”

There is no doubt, if one was to utter such statements today then he deserves to be killed, however the Prophet didn't punish this man because he was apparently a Muslim and that he was one who would establish the prayer, but his hypocrisy was in causing Prophet harm.
