The people of Kalam say the name is not the one that is named:
Their Shubuhat:
1-Surah al-Ala, Ism and Rabb are mentioned separately
2-Lil Allah al-Asma – so Allah owns them
3-They used to worship idols and names they made up, thus showing a difference between the names and the idols
4-Huroof are created: Allah is Azali whereas us calling Him
“Allah” is Haadith. Only Allah is existed so if Names and Attributes existed
also this would be Shirk
5-The Lafdh “Allaah” doesn’t exist, if you look up you don’t see
the words Allah but rather you will see the entity (this is a contradiction with their beliefs on Jihah)
6-The name of something is separate to the essence, if they were
the same this would mean multiple essences
The stance of the people of al-Bid’ah:
1-Ism is different
2-Some made Tawaquf
Reason for this issue
-the reason why they want to seperate the Ism from the Musamma is so that Ta'teel of His Names and mainly His Attributes can then be justified.
Response from Ahl as-Sunnah:
1-The Usl is about Names and Attributes and Kalaam of Allah,
their view goes against the way of the Salaf. We affirm and His Attributes are
not created but our actions are created
Shafi and others if a person say Ism is not Musamma then realise
this person is a Zindeeq
Also affirmed by Ahmad and the students of Ahmad such as
al-Khallal and Kirmani
2-The creation using the names, no one uses them to refer to
Allah being inside the creation
3-The belief of Ahl as-Sunnah was affirmed by the Mutaqdmin of
Ahl al-Kalam, such as Ibn Fawrak and others
4-There is difference between Ism and something being referred
to. So if a person is called something and referred to then the people are
talking about the essence of that thing but not that the essence is present
itself. Without the Ism and its relationship to the Musamma, how would a person
refer or even call to them?
5-The Harf Dhu/Dhee – linguistic proof that the Ism is connected
to the Musamma. Not only that He has the attribute but it is a description of
the essence otherwise calling to them would be Shirk
6-The attributes can be actions and they come from the essence,
otherwise they would be Shirk
7-The Ayat they have used is actually a proof against them when
going back to the Tafsir
e.g. Surah al-Ala, the command from Allah to mention His name
and praise Him with it. Hence its from the Adhkar of Sujood.
8-Their view goes against the use of the Arabic language and all
other languages
9-The Ayat that talk about Prophets and Allah talking to them,
it means Allah talked to them and their essence. E.g. “O Prophet”, “O Adam”
etc.
10-The Salaf rejected their Aqidah because they wanted to say
there is an essence but everything else is created, all of the Names and
Attributes including the name “Allah” itself.
11-Allah existed in eternity but so did His Names and
Attributes. Othewrise it would mean that Allah existed without any Names or
Attributes. It would also mean that they are Haadith after, and there is
nothing Haadith about Allah.
12-The people of Kalam affirm certain Names and Attributes,
affirming them in Azal also. This is a contradiction from their stance
13-Without Ism being connected to Musamma, whom do we end up
referring to? The Khitaab is then only Dhihni
14-If we were to differentiate between Ism and Musamma, this
will create a Zaaid to the essence which doesn’t exist
e.g. Allah is Allah but not the essence, the essence is
something else!?
15-It is possible for one essence to have several attributes,
this doesn’t mean that they are separate essences. They are Mutardif not
Mubaayan.
16-The word “ism” itself has the meaning of [Basrieen say] Samoo
(something named) or [Kufiyeen say] Simaa (a signal for something). Either way,
linguistics have define the Ism being placed to be part of the Musamma.
17-The people of Aqidah who have the correct Aqidah will worship Allah the most and the best, because they connect the Ism with the Musamma. So when worship Allah and call onto Him, we call on to His essence but not His Attributes but those Attributes describe the essence that we are worshipping

The well-known historian Ibn
Khaldoon (may Allah have mercy on him) writes:
Realise, the generations
after the flood of Nooh (Peace be upon him) were formed by the first nation of ‘Aad
(there were two nations of ‘Aad), Thamood, the Amalek, Judays, Umaym, Jurham,
Hadramawt and those related to them where from the pure Arabs – all of them where
from the children of Saam the son of Nooh. End quote.

Imam Ibn Jarir at-Tabari
(may Allah have Mercy on him) wrote:
The Amalek dispersed
in the land. Some settled in the East, some in Oman, others in Hijaz and the
rest in Sham and Egypt. From those who settled in Sham were commonly known as the “The Giants” (الْجَبَابِرَةُ) – they were the Canaanites (الْكَنْعَانِيُّونَ).

Jewish Interpretations
and Position on the Amalek
The term “Amalek” within
scripture often appears as a generalised derogatory term for the natives that settled in the Sham area and according to some interpretations, they are regarded as enemies to the Jewish people.
There are several references to this in the Old Testament:
·
In Deuteronomy
25:17–19, The Israelites are specifically commanded to "blot out the
remembrance of Amalek from under heaven" once they have taken
possession of the promised land in retribution for "what Amalek did to
[them] on the way as [they] were coming out of Egypt."
·
In Deuteronomy
7:1–16 and Deuteronomy
25:16–18, they are commanded to utterly destroy all the inhabitants
of the idolatrous cities in the promised land and their livestock; scripture
purports that King
Saul ultimately loses favor with Yahweh for failing to kill King Agag and
the best livestock of the Amalekites in 1 Samuel 15 in
defiance of these commandments.
·
In 1 Samuel 15:1–9,
Samuel identifies Amalek as the enemy of Israelites, saying "Thus says the
Lord of hosts: I will punish Amalek for what he did to Israel, how he ambushed
him on the way when he came up from Egypt."[18] God
then commands Saul to destroy the Amalekites.[19] In 1 Samuel 15:33,
Samuel identifies king Agag of
Amalek as an enemy and killer, saying "As your sword has made women
childless, so shall your mother be childless among women."
·
According to 1 Samuel 30:1–2,
the Amalekites invaded the Negev and Ziklag in the Judean/Philistine border
area towards the end of the reign of King Saul,
burning Ziklag and
taking its citizens away into captivity. The future king David led a successful mission against
the Amalekites to recover "all that the Amalekites had carried away".[20]
·
In 2 Samuel 1:5–10,
an Amalekite tells David that he found Saul leaning on his spear after the battle of Gilboa. The Amalekite claims he
euthanized Saul, at Saul's request, and removed his crown.[21] David gives orders to his
men to kill the Amalekite for killing the anointed king,
believing him to be guilty by admission.[22]
Although interpretations differ, many orthodox Rabbis have explained that hating and removing the Amalek is a religious obligation. Here are some refrences:
-Rabbi Jonathan Sachs suggests that the enmity towards the Amalek is greater than the enmity towards the Coptic Egyptians who enslaved them because the hate that the Egyptians had towards the Children of Israel was rational due to “a fear of disapproval (as their population was growing), thus can be rationed with.” However, “unconditional, irrational hatred cannot be reasoned with.” Therefore, “it (the enmity) cannot end and will persist.”
-Lubavitcher
Rebbe explains these passages to mean that “the battle with them is daily.”
-Rabbi Baruch Rosenblum opined that the term 'Amalek' is “an acronym that represents evil inclinations.”

The next post will look at the spread of Islam amongst the native Arabs of Sham.
Question: what is obligatory upon with the events that have occurred
with our in Palestine?
Answer (a summary):
-Turning to Allah with Dua that Allah gives victory to Islam
and the Muslims and that Allah unites their word on the truth, the Tawhid of Allah
and actions that Please Him.
-A person must be upset by what is happening.
“And whatever of misfortune befalls you, it is because of what
your hands have earned. And He pardons much.” (42:30)
It is not permitted to insult or rebuke the
Muslims for what has befallen them.
-It is obligatory for us to take an admonition from it. We
remind them and ourselves of Taqwa.
Talq bin Habeeb (d. 100 H) was asked about something very
similar:
They asked, “O Shaykh, we have experienced a great deal of
Fitnah so what is the solution?”
He said, “Taqwa of Allah (the Glorified and Exalted).”
So they asked, “Describe Taqwa to us.”
He said, “Taqwa is that you obey Allah, with light from
Allah, seeing the reward of Allah. That you stay away from the disobedience
from Allah, with light from Allah, fearing the punishment of Allah.
Taqwa is the way out of all calamities and difficulites (cf.
65:2).
-Muslims today are deficient in something important: gaining
a closeness to Allah
“Those (Muslim rulers) who, if We give
them power in the land, (they) order for Iqamat-as-Salat. [i.e. to perform the five compulsory congregational Salat (prayers) (the males in mosques)], to pay the Zakat and they enjoin Al-Ma’ruf (i.e. Islamic Monotheism and all that Islam orders one to
do), and forbid Al-Munkar (i.e. disbelief, polytheism and all that Islam has
forbidden) [i.e. they make the Qur’an as the law of their country in all the
spheres of life]. And with Allah rests the end of (all) matters (of creatures).”
(22:41)
“Allah has promised those among you who
believe, and do righteous good deeds, that He will certainly grant them
succession to (the present rulers) in the earth, as He granted it to those
before them, and that He will grant them the authority to practise their
religion, that which He has chosen for them (i.e. Islam). And He will surely
give them in exchange a safe security after their fear (provided) they
(believers) worship Me and do not associate anything (in worship) with Me. But
whoever disbelieved after this, they are the Fasiqun (rebellious, disobedient to Allah).” (22:55)
Yesterday I heard a
person calling out, “O Salahuddeen (al-Ayubi)!” Isn’t this Shirk with Allah? Supplicate
to Allah, to your Lord!
Imam Malik (may Allah have mercy on him said), “The latter
generations will not find rectification except that which rectified the first generation.” [ash-Shifa of al-Qadhi ‘Iyyad, 2/87-88]
This requires a return to Allah.
The Prophet (Peace and Blessings be upon him) said, “Soon
the nations will gather around a table like they gather around for a meal.” So they
asked, “Will we be small in number?” He (Peace and Blessings be upon him) said,
“No, rather you will be great in number but you will be like the foam on top of
the sea.” [Abu Dawood, 4297 and classed as Saheeh by Al-Albani]
A return back to Allah in belief, statement and action is
the way to attaining honour and victory.
Having weaponry would never bring about honour and victory.
In many of the Muslim lands people are worshipping the graves
and asking them for victory [TN: had their false Aqidah been correct we wouldn’t
be weak. Had their scholars known the unseen then surely they would have the ability
to bring about benefit or remove harm. But these are exclusive rights that
belong only to Allah, the Most High]
Shaykh Saaleh bin Sa’d as-Suhaymi (حفظه الله)
Deputy Mufi for Madinah, Saudi Arabia
My advice on events such as this, is that the response shouldn’t be a political one, because people are already following the news and aware as to what is happening (politically), but the response should be a spiritual one, an educational one.
As a starting point, we have to realise that this life is a
life of being tested and trialled and that Allah (the Glorified and the
Exalted) is testing us, commanding us, trialing us with the actions of one over
another. Some will test others. From this, He will test you in affairs which will
occur in the apparent world around us, such as earthquakes and eruptions and the
likes. Likewise, we will be tested by being overcome by the enemy. Today, what
is happening Palestine – all of this is within this context. It is a test and
trial for us all.
The strong person (in this situation) is being tested so
that he doesn’t oppress. The weak person (in this situation) is also being
tested so that he remains patient. The disbeliever is being tested in that Allah
has Given him strength, wealth, health, that he has a firm hand in the life of
this Dunya – as a means of gradual progression against him (الاستدراج). And the Muslim, Allah
(the Glorified and the Exalted) is testing him with being in a position of
weakness and being oppressed etc.
So, the response should be in asking, “What is required from
us?” (because we are all being tested).
The answer: what is required from us is to understand the nature
of this test. We pursue a path seeking the Pleasure of Allah (the Glorified and
the Exalted). We must realise why we are here, where we are going and why exactly
are these events occurring. As a result, we must stand with the Muslims and aid
them with whatever we can. We ally with them and we must realise that
they are the people of truth. We mustn’t be with the people of falsehood. In
this country (the UK), if a person is able to help his brothers through the licensed
channels, then this is good, and whatever else a person can do to support and strengthen
the Eman of those watching on and giving them insight and to distance them from
a political analysis.

Shaykh Muhammad bin Saaleh al-Uthaymeen (Allah have Mercy on him) was asked about those who say, "I wish the Jews would kill all the Muslims."
He responded:
I seek refuge in Allah, had we known who said such a thing we would have suspicions for this person which would affect the validity of his religion.
Question: does the Shaykh have any advice for the events that have occured in Gaza?
Answer:
Dua for them to be victorious and Dua against the (aggressive) Jews for them to be broken, humiliated and defeated.
